On the afternoon of December 10th, athletes Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong competed in the final of the women's 500m double canoe event. Earlier that morning, in the qualifying round, the two Vietnamese athletes finished with a time of 2 minutes 14 seconds 565 milliseconds.

This afternoon, Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong performed even better, finishing with a time of 2 minutes 06 seconds 487. Despite a less-than-ideal start, the two Vietnamese girls made a spectacular sprint, leaving their competitors far behind.
Two Thai athletes, Orasa and Aphinya, won the silver medal in this event with a time of 2 minutes 09 seconds 783. Meanwhile, two Indonesian athletes, Aprilin and Sella, won the bronze medal with a time of 2 minutes 16 seconds 410.

Earlier, Canoeing also brought good news when Vo Duy Thanh and Do Thi Thanh Thao won the silver medal in the 500m mixed double kayak event, finishing only behind the Singapore team.
Speaking after winning the SEA Games gold medal, Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong admitted they were very happy to have achieved this result. They wished the Vietnamese sports delegation good luck at the 33rd SEA Games.
