The Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept appeared at JMS 2025, three months after its global debut. This high-performance electric car caused a lot of controversy in terms of design, but the focus was clearly on speed and performance: 3 electric motors for a total output of 945 horsepower, acceleration from 0-60 mph in 2 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. In line with Mercedes-AMG's direction, the GT XX EV prioritizes performance over aesthetics.
The concept car is painted in Sunset Beam orange, inspired by the 1970 C-111 – the iconic Mercedes-Benz performance test car. The GT XX Concept is expected to go on sale early next year, positioned in the electric supercar segment, competing with the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, Lucid Air, Audi RS e-tron and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.

C-111 Heritage and Performance Design Philosophy
At the front, the GT XX Concept uses a large LED-rimmed grille placed close to the front bumper, creating a sense of visual mass forward. The air vents on the hood are arranged to improve aerodynamics. The overall appearance prioritizes function, clearly showing the performance orientation of the model.
In contrast to the front part with the strong “gasoline supercar” style, the rear part is controversial with horizontal headlights, round bulbs combined with pixel LED graphics. Seen from behind, this electric supercar “looks like a toy car”. The car uses 21-inch wheels.

Racing style cockpit: yoke and metal details
The cabin space was not opened during the event, but looking through the glass window, you can see the racing-style equipment. The yoke-style steering wheel is reminiscent of a private jet, the central “saddle” area is uniquely designed with many metal details. The air-conditioning vent has a strange shape, likened to “a mini kidney”.

Three electric motors, 945 horsepower: 0–60 mph in 2 seconds
The GT XX Concept uses a 3-motor electric configuration with 2 motors at the rear and 1 motor at the front. The total capacity reaches 945 horsepower, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 2 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

V8 simulated sound and gear shifting feel
One notable detail is the speaker system hidden in the headlights, which simulates the sound of a V8 engine. When combined with an automatic transmission, the driver can feel the familiar shifting sensation through both touch and hearing.

Release date and competition
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX is expected to go on sale early next year. In the electric supercar segment, this model is positioned to compete with the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, Lucid Air, Audi RS e-tron and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
Conclusion: a concept that prioritizes speed over form
The GT XX Concept shows a clear direction for Mercedes-AMG: performance first. The controversial design is the price to pay for a bold aerodynamic configuration, while a trio of electric motors and driving dynamics solutions such as a simulated V8 sound and automatic transmission help the car stand out in terms of experience. As it moves into production, it will be interesting to see how much of the design details are retained and how much of the parameters are refined.
