Valedictorian Diem Phuong said that although she had registered for block B00, she still wanted to try block D07 to have more options. Notably, her scores in both blocks were very high: math: 9.6, English: 9.8, biology: 9.25 and chemistry: 10.

National top student of block D07 Diem Phuong has a scientific review strategy for herself

Sharing about achieving a perfect score in chemistry, Diem Phuong said that she had a hard time learning this subject because the theory was quite "hard to swallow". "The lessons were very long and hard to remember, I felt like after each class, the knowledge just ran into my brain and then slipped out. So even though I did all the exercises, I got a lot of the theory wrong", the valedictorian said.

To make chemistry easier to understand, in addition to regularly reviewing lessons, Phuong practices drawing mind maps to visualize the most general theory of that lesson. "At the same time, I apply two more methods: active recall and spaced repetition, through which I will take notes on flashcards, teach lessons to friends or ask myself questions to answer," she said.

As for other subjects, Phuong also builds her own review and exam strategies. For math, Phuong always spends some time checking easy questions carefully and practicing many difficult types of questions to practice thinking habits. For biology, she reads a lot of books and documents to grasp the question types and broaden her practical perspective. As for English, Phuong has achieved IELTS 7.0, so reviewing for this subject is not too difficult.

"Every day, I will spend about 12 hours studying and practicing. To relax and stay healthy, I will go to bed at 10:30 p.m. and only use my phone at the end of the month," Diem Phuong said.

As Phuong's homeroom teacher, Mr. Tran Thanh Hung said: "Phuong is a student who is very diligent and hard-working in building an effective learning path for herself. Whenever she encounters difficult lessons, she tries to think of ways to solve them and always seeks out teachers to help her learn from her mistakes. With the effort she has put into studying every day, the results she has achieved beyond her teachers' expectations are completely worthy."

When asked about her plans, this valedictorian expressed: "I have a dream of becoming a doctor, so I plan to apply to Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and try to study well to not let down the teachers and family who have accompanied me all this time."
