According to a report from Thanh Hoa Power Company, prolonged heavy rain and rising river levels in many areas have affected the power grid system in the province. As of 3 PM on September 23, 2024, on the medium-voltage grid, there was 1 power outage, 1 substation affected by landslides, 4 broken poles, and 2 tilted poles; on the low-voltage grid, there were 5 broken poles and 36 tilted poles, disrupting electricity supply to 4,262 customers.

Prolonged heavy rain and rising river levels caused power poles to break and fall, affecting the electricity supply to the people.
In areas affected by flooding, landslides, and erosion, there are continued warnings that the power grid may experience further unforeseen incidents causing localized power outages.
Currently, Thanh Hoa Power Company has fully prepared materials and personnel and is ready to rectify any incidents, ensuring safety conditions to restore electricity to the people as soon as possible.

A customer's substation was flooded.
In addition, Thanh Hoa Power Company is strengthening its efforts to raise awareness and advise customers on safe electricity use during the rainy and stormy season. Accordingly, electricity customers and the public are advised: Not to use wires or stakes to tie houses, structures, boats, or rafts to power poles and substations, or to violate the safe distance from power lines, as this endangers people and livestock and causes power grid failures; not to travel by boat or raft in flooded areas where power lines are close to the water surface without ensuring a safe distance to avoid electrical discharge and accidents.
Inspect and reinforce power lines and poles after the meter, ensuring that power lines are not submerged in water during heavy rain or floods; connections must be secure and wrapped with insulating tape; the insulation of power lines must not be cracked, broken, or peeling; do not tie power lines to metal parts of factories or buildings. Actively coordinate with local authorities and the local power company to cut and trim trees located within the power line corridor. For tall trees that pose a risk of falling onto power lines, safety measures must be taken to prevent them from falling and causing accidents.
In case of flooding, cut off the power supply to the house (main circuit breaker, fuse) and do not touch any electrical appliances or equipment with wet hands or while walking on a wet floor... circuit breakers, fuses, and fuses in the house must be placed in a dry place to ensure safety.
During thunderstorms, limit going outside to avoid unexpected incidents such as lightning strikes, broken power lines, fallen utility poles, broken insulators, fallen trees, and electrical leaks. In particular, do not touch utility poles, pole bracing wires, or pole grounding wires, and do not stand under utility poles to prevent electric shock from electrical leaks.
If you discover an electrical fault caused by a natural disaster, such as a fallen or broken power pole or severed power lines, do not approach it and immediately alert everyone nearby. At the same time, isolate the affected area, guard it, and quickly call the Northern Power Corporation's Customer Service hotline at 19006769 so that the local power company can cut off the power and handle the problem.
