After completing land clearance, over the past year the project implementing units have begun construction of both open and closed tunnel sections. In Dinh Cong ward, the tunnel has already taken shape.

At the project site on the morning of February 27th, Mr. Do Duc Hung, representative of the investor, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, stated that after completing the pouring of 9 open tunnel sections and 1 closed tunnel section on the Dinh Cong side, the contractors are currently constructing drainage ditches along both sides.

Regarding the current construction status of the project in Dinh Cong ward, Mr. Ho Duc Phuc (Cienco4 Corporation - the main contractor) stated that the tunnel construction in Dinh Cong ward is basically complete. However, the project cannot proceed with the access road to the tunnel because one household has erected a temporary shack and is encroaching on the land (photo 1), and a 630 KVA electrical transformer station is also obstructing the construction (photo 2).

After the intersection expansion is completed, all vehicles traveling on Giai Phong Street will use the temporary road towards the newly expanded Kim Dong Street, and the intersection area will be fenced off for drilling and excavation of the main tunnel.

It is expected that starting in May 2024, the drilling and excavation of the tunnel under Giai Phong Street to connect Ring Road 2.5 to Kim Dong Street will be carried out by the construction units.

The Ring Road 2.5 underpass project across Giai Phong Street has a total length of 460 meters, with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and runs underground through the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection. The project commenced on October 6, 2022, with an investment of 778 billion VND, and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025. Its goal is to complete the Ring Road 2.5 route and reduce traffic congestion at the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection.

At the project site on February 27th, Mr. Do Duc Hung, from Supervision Department 5, Hanoi City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Projects (the investor), stated that the project is being constructed day by day and is still on track to open to traffic in the second quarter of 2025.
