According to the White House, 8.5 million households and small businesses still live and operate in areas that lack high-speed Internet infrastructure and have limited access to reliable Internet service. In terms of the size of the investment package, this is the largest investment package in the history of this country.

The investment package was announced in the context of the US Government's ambition to bring high-speed Internet to remote areas using fiber optic cables, helping households, farms and schools to have uninterrupted connectivity.

President Biden is currently working to promote his achievements in infrastructure investment, the economy and climate change, to create a support base for his re-election campaign in 2024.
