The Pentagon announced on December 4 that the US military had conducted an attack on a vessel suspected of carrying illegal drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing four men on board, The Guardian reported.

Video of the new attack was posted on social media by the US Southern Command, along with a statement that: "At the direction of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Task Force Southern Spear conducted an attack on a vessel operated by a terrorist organization in international waters."

"Intelligence confirmed the vessel was carrying illegal drugs and was moving along a known drug trafficking route in the Eastern Pacific. Four 'narco-terrorists' on board were killed," the statement added.

The video shows a sudden loud explosion on the ship as it is moving on the water, followed by images of the ship on fire and black smoke billowing.

The US military said that since September, they have carried out 22 attacks on suspected drug-carrying vessels, killing nearly 86 people.
