The new Yamaha Ego Gear Pro 2026 scooter model is very similar to its "brother" Freego sold in the Vietnamese market, but the scooter model in Malaysia has a hybrid engine option. In the 2026 version just launched, in addition to being added with new colors, the vehicle also has some improved equipment... Compared to the Yamaha scooter models currently sold on the market using fuel-efficient engines such as Grande Hybrid or Fazzio Hybrid, which are designed to suit female customers, the Yamaha Ego Gear Pro Hybrid has a stronger, more sturdy and sportier design.
In particular, the front apron creates a highlight with a large LED headlight cluster, layered in a Y shape, and on both sides there are also integrated large vertical turn signal clusters. The body of the car creates a feeling with plastic panels. The flat floor design creates a wide space for the driver to rest his feet. The monochrome LCD instrument panel displays all the necessary information and supports Yamaha Y-Connect, allowing connection to the rider’s smartphone. This application provides call and message notifications, maintenance reminders, fuel consumption monitoring. In addition, the vehicle also has an “answer back” feature to help find the vehicle in a crowded parking lot. The fuel tank capacity of the Ego Gear Pro Hybrid is 5.1 liters, while the under-seat compartment has a capacity of 18.3 liters, enough to hold many personal items. In addition, the vehicle also has two small compartments in the front for storing small items. The seat height is set at 750 mm and the vehicle weight is 95 kg.
The vehicle uses identical sized front and rear wheels, with 110/70 tubeless tires on 12-inch cast wheels. The braking system includes hydraulic disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The suspension system uses conventional telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The most prominent new feature on the Ego Gear Pro Hybrid is the Power Assist feature, which automatically adds traction when the car accelerates from a standstill, especially useful when carrying more people or starting on a slope. This support feature works up to a maximum speed of 30 km/h. When combined with the Smart Motor Generator (SMG), the driver will have a smoother driving experience. The power of the Ego Gear Pro Hybrid comes from a 125 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder SOHC Blue Core Hybrid engine. The engine produces 8.4 PS at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 9.9 Nm at 5,000 rpm, transmitted to the rear wheel via a CVT automatic transmission.
In the Malaysian market, the Yamaha Ego Gear Pro Hybrid is distributed in three color options with a selling price equivalent to about 35 million VND. This model is considered a competitor to the Honda Air Blade 125 or Honda Vision. In the context of the electrification race taking place in the Southeast Asian motorcycle markets, Yamaha, despite its strength in production and brand, is still behind domestic electric motorcycle brands. However, the Japanese automaker is still gradually electrifying its scooter models.
