On the morning of October 28th, the inauguration ceremony of the new facility of the National Innovation Center (NIC) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment , combined with the opening of the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023 (VIIE 2203), officially took place at the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (Hanoi).
Speaking at the event, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said: "Today's inauguration ceremony is of paramount importance, marking the formation of not only a national innovation space but also a symbol representing Vietnam's determination to promote a rapid and sustainable growth model based on science, technology, and innovation. Building a highly independent and self-reliant economy , successfully implementing the industrialization and modernization of the country."
The center not only connects the domestic innovation ecosystem but also links with a network of innovation centers in the region and around the world , contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in fulfilling its mission to become a center of innovation in the region and the world.
According to the Minister, the Hoa Lac NIC possesses unique characteristics. It is one of the first innovation centers in the world owned by the State, serving the common goals of the nation. It has a special mechanism stipulated in a separate Government Decree and is invested in and operated entirely with socialized capital.
These characteristics are expected to transform the National Innovation Center into a driving force for the development of Vietnam's innovation ecosystem, helping Vietnam seize the once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity of the fourth industrial revolution to achieve breakthroughs and rise to prominence.
"The Center's facility in Hoa Lac is ready for official inauguration and operation. With its well-invested and modern infrastructure, the center will be a hub for a dynamic ecosystem in the region. It will bring together major technology companies and talented individuals from both within and outside the country. It will provide workspace, research, incubation, and will help innovative projects develop to a new level," the Minister assessed.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment recognizes that this is only the initial result. The journey of innovation ahead is fraught with difficulties, challenges, and new demands arising from practical realities.
"With the Party's policies and guidelines, and the close direction and management of the Government and the Prime Minister, we can be confident in a new wave of development for Vietnam's innovation ecosystem. A future where, when innovation is mentioned, the regional and global communities will immediately think of Vietnam and the National Innovation Center. This will contribute to igniting the aspiration for national development, strongly promoting Vietnamese cultural values, human resources, and the power of the times, mobilizing all resources, and achieving rapid and sustainable economic development."
"In the coming period, the Ministry of Planning and Investment will continue to closely coordinate with ministries, departments, and domestic and international organizations to further build and operate the National Innovation Center effectively and successfully," the Minister said.
