Despite his impressive victory in the 23rd annual “Road to Olympia” weekly competition, Ha Tinh male student Le Cong Nguyen had to regretfully stop in the monthly round when he finished in 3rd place.

The February competition, third quarter, Road to Olympia program year 23 (broadcast on the afternoon of May 28) is a competition between 4 candidates: Le Cong Nguyen (Phan Dinh Phung High School, Ha Tinh); Nguyen Bao Minh Triet (Nguyen Chi Thanh High School for the Gifted, Dak Nong ); To Vu Phuc Dang (Marie Curie High School, Hanoi); Nguyen Duy Minh (Dong Du Secondary - High School, Dak Lak).

In the Warm-up round, the contestants were constantly chasing each other in each round of questions. Phuc Dang had the most correct answers and temporarily took the lead with 50 points. Minh Triet was second with 45 points. Duy Minh followed closely with 40 points. Although he rang the bell and won the right to answer some questions, Cong Nguyen still did not score any points in the first round.

Entering the Obstacle Course, the keyword to be found consisted of 11 letters. After being unable to answer the question to find the first clue, all 4 contestants had the correct answer to open the second horizontal box. The given clue was "temperature". The next clue was "rail" and the last clue was "volume". After 3 clues were given, Duy Minh quickly pressed the bell to answer the keyword Obstacle Course with the answer "Thermal expansion". At the end of this round, Duy Minh took the lead with 80 points; followed by Minh Triet with 75 points; Phuc Dang and Cong Nguyen had scores of 70 and 20 respectively.

In the Acceleration round, Cong Nguyen quickly regained his form. The Ha Tinh male student was the only one to answer all 4 questions correctly in this round, earning him an additional 140 points. From the last position in the race, Cong Nguyen rose to the joint lead with Duy Minh with 160 points. Minh Triet was right behind with 145 points. Phuc Dang's score after this round was 80.

In the Finish Line round, all four climbers carefully considered their question packages. Cong Nguyen was the first to compete. He chose three questions worth 20, 20, and 20 points. The male student answered one-third of the questions and finished with 160 points.

Meanwhile, Minh Triet excelled in this round, gaining 50 more points, winning the laurel wreath with 195 points. Duy Minh scored 30 more points, coming in second with 190 points. Phuc Dang was less fortunate in this race with a final score of 60.

Sharing about the competition, Cong Nguyen said he was quite regretful because the results were not as expected. “Not getting any points in the warm-up round made me quite stressed, leading to losing my composure and making some incorrect decisions. However, participating in the competition was a great joy for me, because this has been my dream since I was a child,” Cong Nguyen expressed.

Talking about his upcoming plans, the male student of class 11A4 - Phan Dinh Phung High School said that he is focusing on studying to best prepare for the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam next year.

Le Cong Nguyen is the champion of the second year of "Lam Hong Intelligence" - a contest to find a representative for Phan Dinh Phung High School (Ha Tinh City) to participate in the Road to Olympia program in 2023.

In the competition of week 1, month 2, quarter 3 of the 23rd Road to Olympia, Cong Nguyen won impressively with 325 points, setting a record as the contestant with the highest score in the Finishing round of the Road to Olympia 2023 (with 140 points) up to this point.
