On the evening of June 2nd, speaking with a VietNamNet reporter, the队长 (Team Leader) of Road Traffic Police Team No. 7, Hanoi City Police Traffic Department, stated that the unit had just issued an administrative fine of 7 million VND, temporarily seized the vehicle for 7 days, and revoked the driver's license for 4 months against HPP (born in 2005, residing in Thanh Tri, Hanoi) for the act of performing a wheelie on a motorbike.
Earlier, on the evening of June 1st, a video circulated on social media showing a young man riding a motorbike on one wheel on Le Van Luong Street. Upon receiving the report, Traffic Police Team No. 7 identified the driver and summoned him for questioning.
P. confessed that at around 10:30 PM on June 1st, while riding on Le Van Luong Street (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi), he performed a wheelie on his motorbike with license plate 29X7-660.XX with the intention of having his friends film it and then uploading the video to social media to show off his "achievement".
After being educated by the traffic police, P. realized his actions were wrong. He also wrote a commitment not to repeat the offense.
Representatives from the Hanoi City Police Traffic Department stated that all traffic violations, including reckless driving, swerving, and wheelies, will be strictly dealt with as a deterrent. Currently, the unit is coordinating with the Criminal Police Department, the Mobile Police Regiment, and the police of districts, counties, and towns to strictly patrol and handle unruly young people who disrupt public order every night on the central streets of the capital and suburban areas.
