What is Aerospace Engineering?
Aeronautical engineering is a field of study that trains students in the design and construction of aircraft. It comprises two distinct areas: civil aviation engineering and aerospace engineering.
Civil aviation engineering is responsible for designing and creating aircraft for use within the Earth's atmosphere. Conversely, aerospace engineering focuses on researching and developing spacecraft or satellites for use outside the Earth's atmosphere.
Typically, a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering is completed within three or four years.
With the growth potential of the domestic air transport market, students majoring in Aeronautical Engineering, with their strong professional knowledge, can take on job positions such as: Aeronautical engineering expert at Vietnamese and international aviation engineering companies: Vietjet Air, Jetstar Airways, Bamboo Airways, etc.; Consultant and support for aircraft maintenance and aviation services at airlines.
Several schools offer training in Aeronautical Engineering.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology is one of the first institutions in Vietnam to offer Aeronautical Engineering programs. The Aeronautical Engineering program at Hanoi University of Science and Technology admits students through four methods: admission based on high school graduation exam scores, talent-based admission, admission based on aptitude test results, and direct admission.
Based on the 2023 high school graduation exam scores, the admission cutoff score for this major is 25.5 points (A00; A01). The school stipulates that the tuition fee for the Aeronautical Engineering major ranges from 26 to 29 million VND per academic year.
In 2023, the Vietnam Aviation Academy , using the high school graduation exam scores as the admission cutoff for the Aviation Engineering major, set the minimum admission score at 21.5 points (A00; A01; D07). Meanwhile, the cutoff score in 2022 was not significantly different, at 21.3 points (A00; A01; D07; D90).
In addition, the school also recruits students through four other methods: considering high school academic transcripts, priority admission based on the academy's admission plan, direct admission, and considering scores from the aptitude test organized by Hanoi National University.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) is one of the few universities in the South that offers Aeronautical Engineering programs. In 2023, the university admitted students through three methods: direct and priority admission, admission for students planning to study abroad through the International Transfer Program, and combined admission.
With a combined admissions method based on multiple criteria (aptitude test results, high school graduation exam results, high school academic scores, and other abilities), the minimum admission score for this major is 59.94 points (A00; A01). The tuition fee for the Aeronautical Engineering major is approximately 15 million VND per semester.
