Taking place simultaneously at the campus of the University of Science and Technology (268 Ly Thuong Kiet, Dien Hong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1 Dai Co Viet, Bach Mai Ward, Hanoi), the 2025 Admission Choice Day was organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training with the support of Vingroup Corporation.

Meet an admissions consultant in person

A traditional feature of this year's festivals is the in-depth consulting area, where students and parents can meet directly with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, admissions experts from prestigious universities such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Foreign Trade University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy...

Here, candidates are given specific advice on how to register, adjust and add their wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training system, considering the actual high school graduation exam scores. At the same time, experts also help candidates understand how to flexibly apply the admission methods currently applied by schools, from high school graduation exam results, high school transcripts, to admission by international language certificates or a combination of multiple criteria.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khoi - Head of Training Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City - shared that in the context of increasingly diverse admission methods in 2025, understanding one's strengths and weaknesses is a key factor in making a decision. Candidates will receive practical advice on how to arrange their wishes appropriately. Candidates can meet directly with experts and have 1-1 answers to all their questions.

More than 300 consulting booths

At the two ends of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the festival gathered 155 consulting booths in the Northern region and 154 booths in the Southern region, with the participation of almost all major universities and colleges across the country.

This is an opportunity for students to meet directly with the consulting team and lecturers of the schools, to get detailed answers about the admission requirements, the specifics of the major, and job opportunities after graduation. In addition, the volunteer student team of each school will create a close and lively atmosphere. Students can directly ask senior students about their real experiences when studying information technology, communications, economics, design or medicine... thereby gaining more practical perspectives before making a choice.

Another highlight of this year’s event was the presence of many study abroad consulting units, especially schools from Taiwan. Up to 19 Taiwanese schools attended the event, introducing international training programs with reasonable tuition fees and many attractive scholarships. Many units provided specific information about new majors, admission requirements, training roadmap, visa policies and part-time work opportunities for international students.

This is an opportunity for parents and students to directly approach foreign school representatives, compare programs, and choose a country that suits their academic ability, finances, and career orientation. Study abroad consulting units also share many practical experiences on preparing documents, how to hunt for scholarships, and exit procedures.

What to prepare for the festival?

Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, Vice Principal of Hanoi University, shared that the admission selection day is a great opportunity for candidates and parents to meet directly with university representatives, so careful preparation before attending is essential.

Before coming to the fair, candidates should narrow down 3-5 majors and universities that they are most interested in and go directly to the consulting booth of each school to ask for information.

In addition, candidates learn basic information about the major, admission combination, how to calculate admission score, previous years' benchmark scores, job opportunities... of the chosen majors to prepare key questions.

"Because the consulting place is quite crowded, if you have precise questions, you will be consulted faster and more effectively. For example, you can ask the teachers to point out the differences between 2 training programs that you are not clear about or advise you on choosing 1 of 2 majors that you are still hesitant about.

Don't ask general questions like what majors does your school teach? If you already know the information about the major and admission requirements, you can ask for more detailed information such as scholarships, tuition fees, opportunities to study abroad, internships, jobs, extracurricular activities, dormitories... to know more about the learning and living conditions at each school" - Ms. Phuong instructed.

In addition, Ms. Phuong also reminded candidates to bring their exam scores (expected or official) so they can ask for advice that is close to their actual ability.

"You should be proactive, actively learn and ask questions because this is a choice related to your major and your future. You should not make this choice based on the opinions of friends and relatives. Because only when you truly love that major will you make an effort, achieve good results and overcome difficulties when entering a new level of education, completely different from previous levels," said Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong.

Introduction to the learning environment in Taiwan

Prof. Dr. Tran Hoa Hien - Counselor, Head of Education Department of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City - shared that the education department and schools will introduce the learning environment and education quality of Taiwan to parents and students, in order to help Taiwan and Vietnam train human resources together.

"More and more parents are sending their children to study abroad in Taiwan. I believe that the number of Vietnamese students studying abroad in Taiwan this year will be higher than last year. There are currently about 40,000 Vietnamese students studying in Taiwan," said Professor Tran Hoa Hien.
