Traffic changes in each phase at My Thuy intersection, people need to pay attention

Traffic in the My Thuy intersection area, Ho Chi Minh City will be adjusted in 4 phases. People need to pay attention to the traffic flow plan to proactively choose the appropriate route.

On the afternoon of December 4, at a press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Kien Giang - Deputy Head of the Department of Traffic Works Maintenance and Operation Management (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction), informed about the traffic adjustment plan at My Thuy intersection.

According to Mr. Giang, the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is speeding up construction to complete the My Thuy traffic intersection project, with 4 traffic adjustment milestones.

Phase 1 is being implemented from November 2025 to February 2026, the construction will occupy a part of My Thuy 3 bridge, Nguyen Thi Dinh and Vo Chi Cong streets to construct the T12 pillar of the Cat Lai - Phu My overpass and a section of the H4 tunnel of the Nguyen Thi Dinh underpass.

Phase 2, expected from February 2026 to March 2026, will occupy the area of ​​the intersection and Vo Chi Cong street to construct tunnel H6.1; construct many pillars, abutments and access roads of the Cat Lai - Phu My overpass and the overpass on Ring Road 2.

Phase 3 is expected to last from March 2026 to April 2026. The construction unit will partially block off the intersection and Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (from Cat Lai Port) to continue constructing tunnel sections H6.2 and H7; constructing the overpass span of Ring Road 2 and Cat Lai - Phu My overpass; and installing the steel spans of the overpass.

Phase 4, expected from May 2026 to June 2026, will partially block off the intersection (from Cat Lai port to My Thuy bridge) to construct spans T3-T4 of the Ring Road 2 overpass and continue installing the steel structure of the Cat Lai - Phu My overpass.

The City Department of Construction emphasized that at each stage, this agency will announce specific traffic diversion plans to the press so that people can grasp the information, thereby proactively choosing the appropriate route when passing through the My Thuy intersection area, which has a high traffic density and frequent congestion.

On March 14, Ho Chi Minh City started construction on phase 3 of the My Thuy intersection project, aiming to complete the entire project by April 2026.

The intersection has 4 levels, including an overpass on Vo Chi Cong, an overpass turning left from Cat Lai to Phu My, an underpass turning left from Vo Chi Cong to Cat Lai, Ky Ha 3-4 bridge and branch roads.

Some items of phase 1 and 2 have been put into operation from 2019 - 2021. Phase 3 will construct an overpass on Vo Chi Cong and the right branch of Ky Ha 3 bridge.

The total investment of the project is over 3,400 billion VND. My Thuy is the gateway to Cat Lai port, with over 20,000 vehicles passing through every day, often congested. The project is expected to reduce traffic jams and improve infrastructure in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City.
