"Healthy Living Every Day 2025" Festival in Thanh Hoa: Many people suffer from digestive diseases

After Hai Phong, at the end of November, the event "Live Healthy Every Day 2025" continued to take place in Thanh Hoa, bringing more than 1,000 free medical examinations to local people. The program is part of the community campaign "Choose GREEN for HEALTH - For a truly healthy Vietnam" organized by Manulife in collaboration with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, to raise awareness of digestive health in the community.

Many medical examination categories for people

Arriving at the Hac Thanh Convention Center early, many Thanh people lined up to register for free medical examination and screening. In addition to the elderly and veterans, most of them were young people from 25 to 45 years old such as office workers, workers...

Many Thanh Hoa people came to have health check-ups at the event 'Healthy Living Every Day 2025'.

At the event, people received health check-ups with many steps such as: general internal examination, tests (blood sugar, blood lipids, uric acid), specialized examination and paraclinical examination (general abdominal ultrasound, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, bone density measurement, ear, nose and throat...). In particular, the program also implemented screening for HP bacteria - a common agent causing stomach diseases, and indicated screening for gastrointestinal cancer for cases with abnormal signs.

Notably, this year’s event applies artificial intelligence (AI) technology in diagnosis, using questionnaire data and rapid test results to assess the risk of non-communicable diseases and the risk of gastrointestinal cancer. In addition to free medical examination services, people also receive advice from doctors on nutrition, healthy physical activity and prescription drugs.

People are given a variety of health check-ups such as blood tests, X-rays, and electrocardiograms.

Local representative, Ms. Le Thi Trang - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Thanh Hoa province, said: " The program helps local people access high-quality health check-up services, especially workers and manual laborers who often do not have the conditions to have regular health check-ups. This year's program continues to help young people become more aware of diseases related to the digestive system - diseases that are increasingly common and need to be given due attention ."

Many local young people were found to have digestive diseases.

Reality shows that many young people show signs of digestive diseases, from HP bacteria infection to gastritis, reflux and digestive disorders.

People can undergo many health check-ups such as electrocardiogram, ultrasound, X-ray...

Participating in the medical examination program, Dr. Dao Thi Huong - Central Hospital 71 said: " Many young people come for the first examination but find out they are infected with HP. The worrying thing is that most of them do not know they are infected, leading to unintentionally infecting people around them through daily eating habits ."

Dr. Huong also said that many people under 40 years old are indicated for further screening because of the risk of progression to serious illness. According to the doctor, busy lifestyles, the habit of skipping breakfast, eating processed foods, staying up late and working in shifts are factors that put greater pressure on the digestive system of young people.

At the event, many people realized that symptoms they thought were “normal” could potentially pose a risk of disease. Ms. Phan Thi Hanh (Sam Son ward, Thanh Hoa province), who was found to be infected with HP bacteria, said that she occasionally burped and had stomach pain, but thought it was just due to incompatible food and did not think that she was infected with HP and could lead to other digestive diseases. “ The doctor prescribed me an endoscopy to assess the risk of stomach ulcers. If it weren’t for this program, I would probably continue to neglect my health ,” she said.

People are given free medicine according to doctor's prescription at the program.

The data recorded at the festival partly shows the general picture: young people are being affected by industrial lifestyles, and early detection is still the most effective way to reduce the risk of serious illness. From that reality, the event "Healthy Living Every Day 2025" is an opportunity for people to access modern medical services right at their locality as well as raise awareness about proactive disease prevention and health protection.

Thanh Hoa is the second destination in the “Healthy Living Every Day 2025” festival series, after Hai Phong and before the program continues to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. With the orientation of sustainable companionship with the community, Manulife and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association hope to expand free health check-up models, apply technology in health assessment and form awareness as well as early screening habits for a healthy life.

As life expectancy continues to increase but many people still live with illness in old age, Manulife Financial has been promoting initiatives to improve public health in many countries. These efforts focus on developing solutions to help people live healthier lives as they age, while increasing financial independence at each stage of life. Most recently, Manulife has launched the Longevity Institute – a global platform to promote programs to help people live longer, healthier and more financially secure, with a commitment to invest 350 million Canadian dollars by 2030.

In Vietnam, the campaign "Choose GREEN for HEALTH" is considered a part of realizing that orientation, helping young people raise awareness about digestive health and build a foundation for healthy living early.
