According to the VNA correspondent in Japan, the Vietnam National Day was specially arranged by the Exhibition Organizing Committee on September 9, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The event was attended by over 400 delegates from Japan and countries around the world. Notably, on the Japanese side, Princess Tsuguko, representing the Japanese Royal Family, was the guest of honor; Chairwoman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Ms. Obuchi Yuko; Mr. Koga Yuichiro, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy , Trade and Industry of Japan and Secretary of State of the Cabinet Office of Japan, representing the Japanese Government; Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki, Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Governor of Nara Prefecture and leaders of Shiga Prefecture; along with representatives of the EXPO 2025 Organizing Committee, more than 160 national exhibitors at EXPO and Japanese localities, organizations and enterprises.

The Vietnam National Day ceremony solemnly began with the Vietnamese flag-raising ceremony and the Japanese flag-raising ceremony.

In his opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly appreciated the significance and content of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai. With the theme “Designing the future society for our lives”, EXPO 2025 is a meaningful convergence point, combining the past, present and future for countries to spread cultural values, advanced scientific and technological achievements, promote common solutions, strengthen cooperation in implementing the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations, towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam consistently implements the policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; multilateralization and diversification of relations; proactively and actively integrates into the international community for the benefit of the nation. In particular, Vietnam always considers Japan a leading important partner, a sincere and trustworthy friend, accompanying Vietnam for many decades. The Deputy Prime Minister believes that, on the basis of high political trust, similarities in culture, history and people; long-standing people-to-people exchanges and potentials and strengths that can complement each other; along with the cooperation framework of "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World", the Vietnam - Japan friendship and cooperation will enter a new stage of development that is more comprehensive, strategic and profound in all fields, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On behalf of the Government of Japan, Minister of State Koga Yuchiro warmly congratulated the Vietnam National Day celebration, sincerely thanked Vietnam for participating in EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai; believed that the message and attractiveness of Vietnam will be spread more widely to Japan and the world through the Vietnam Exhibition House. Emphasizing the diplomatic relations and friendship between the two countries that have been continuously cultivated over the years, Minister of State Yuchiro affirmed that Japan welcomes Vietnam's orientation in the "New Era" and will continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in new fields such as semiconductors, decarbonization - energy, as well as in the field of security. He also sent congratulations to the country and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2, and hoped that Vietnam will develop more and more prosperously.

In the framework of Vietnam National Day, in addition to the official ceremony, there are also 6 main activities, including photo exhibition, introduction of to he, tea ceremony performance, parade, special art programs (ethnic music, classical music, gong, martial arts), puppetry performance, Vietnamese traditional costume performance, and trade/business networking activities.

During the meeting with Princess Tsuguko, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, on behalf of the Government, expressed his sincere thanks for the good feelings and deep concern that the Japanese Royal Family has always shown to the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam-Japan cooperative relationship; and conveyed the invitation of General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong to the King, Queen and members of the Japanese Royal Family to visit Vietnam soon. The Deputy Prime Minister asked the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance to urge the Japanese Government to support Vietnam in technological autonomy; invest in high technology in Vietnam; and strengthen substantive cooperation between the two countries' localities, including promoting cooperation between Japan and Can Tho and five localities in the Mekong Delta region, especially in the fields of climate change response, high-tech agriculture, food security, environment, etc.

Ms. Obuchi Yuko conveyed her regards to the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders and thanked them for the warm welcome given to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance delegation on their recent visit to Vietnam. Expressing her deep impression of Vietnam's development and dynamism, Ms. Obuchi congratulated Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the country's founding. Also on September 9, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long chaired the Vietnam - Kansai Economic Forum in the series of events of Vietnam National Day at EXPO Osaka 2025, Japan. The event was organized by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka together with Japanese organizations and agencies including JETRO, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Kansai Economic Federation (KEF), SMBC Bank, Mizuho Bank, MUFG Bank organized the "Vietnam - Kansai Economic Forum" with the theme "Cooperation to create the future, connecting the global value chain".

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu expressed his thanks to the agencies, organizations, economic associations, and the support of three Japanese Mega Banks, Mizuho Bank, SMBC Bank, and MUFG Bank, with their key connecting roles, for always accompanying the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance to organize today's meaningful Forum, as well as to continuously open up investment capital and cooperation opportunities.

With the Vietnamese Government's daily efforts in recent times, JETRO Executive Vice President Takashima Tomohiro said that Japanese enterprises highly appreciate Vietnam's investment environment in terms of market size and growth potential, as well as stable socio-political conditions, both of which far exceed the ASEAN average.

In his concluding remarks at the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly welcomed and agreed with the speakers' sharing, recognizing that the room and potential for economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan is still very large to continue developing, worthy of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two countries have established.
