After completing a week-long volunteer trip to Vietnam, chef Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook) returned home.

He told Tuoi Tre Online that he had fulfilled his wish to return to Vietnam after more than 5 years.

Yan Can Cook raises funds to help the poor.

Martin Yan said he has a great affection for the people and cuisine of Vietnam. Therefore, all his charitable plans and activities prioritize this country.

Each year, he comes to Vietnam 2-3 times to perform, teach cooking, and organize charitable activities.

However, for the past five years, due to the pandemic and some other objective reasons, he has been unable to travel to Vietnam.

During his visit to Vietnam, Martin Yan launched his book, a kitchen tool set, and spent time doing charitable work in Ho Chi Minh City.

Martin Yan donates all profits from his activities to the Traditional Medicine Association and Duoc Su Pagoda (Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City).

"The Traditional Medicine Association and the Dược Sư Temple both provide medical care and assistance to those in need. This is also why I chose to support these two organizations, so they can continue to help others," shared chef Martin Yan.

Traditional medicine practitioner Nguyen Dang Xieng - chairman of the Traditional Medicine Association of Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City - deeply appreciates Martin Yan's kindness in always reaching out to those in difficult circumstances and poor patients.

Martin Yan will be performing a cooking demonstration to raise funds for charity. I am touched by his affection for disabled children," artist Kim Cuong shared with Tuoi Tre Online .

Martin Yan recounts that 25 years ago, he appeared on a cooking show broadcast on HTV, and from then on, he became more widely known to Vietnamese audiences.

Later, he was fortunate enough to visit Vietnam and experience many different places throughout the country. In each place, he discovered new dishes. He said he really enjoyed the flavors of Vietnamese food.

Besides Vietnam, Martin Yan also organizes cooking shows and fundraising events for charity in Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and other countries.
