The suspect is accused of sharing classified military documents on Discord. The documents include detailed intelligence assessments of US allies and adversaries, including the state of the war in Ukraine.
Teixeira, a junior airman with the Massachusetts Air National Guard's 102nd Intelligence Wing, began posting information about the documents online around December 2022 and posted photos of the documents starting in January, prosecutors said.
Teixeira's lawyers argued in court that their client had no idea that the classified information he posted on the social network Discord would continue to spread across the internet and criticized prosecutors for exaggerating the danger to national security.
Teixeira's next hearing is scheduled for August 9.
