In the recent International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2023, Hoang Pham Minh Khanh, a 10G0 student of Newton Secondary and High School, became the student who won the highest prize of the entire Vietnamese delegation with a Silver medal.
This is the first time in 12 years that Vietnam has participated in the competition that a student from a non-specialized school has been included in the official team. Minh Khanh’s achievement is a milestone that continues the long list of achievements of Newton Inter-level School in the international arena.

Before Minh Khanh, many students of Newton Inter-level School also won medals in national and international competitions. They were Tran Hoang Lam and Do Gia Bao (students of class 6G0) - the only representatives of the Vietnamese delegation participating in the final round of the Asia- Pacific Mathematical Olympiad (APMOPS 2023) and both won gold medals.
In particular, student Tran Hoang Lam was the contestant with the second highest score in the world , ranked runner-up and received a prize of 800 USD from the organizing committee. Meanwhile, Do Gia Bao is also a familiar name in many international competitions such as TIMO Gold Medal, AMO Gold Medal, VANDA Gold Medal...

Most recently, at the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) hosted by Indonesia in November, Newton Inter-level School also had the largest number of students entering the official round in the country. This school contributed 5/8 gold medals and ranked first in the overall Vietnamese delegation.
Among them, Nguyen Gia Tuan, a student of class 6G0, won the Gold medal in Math and also won the Best Exploration award.
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Man, Principal of Newton Secondary and High School, these results not only affirm Newton Secondary and High School's leading position but also motivate Newton students to be more confident in conquering international arenas.
“These are all difficult awards, students have to overcome many rounds of competition with many students from many famous schools in Vietnam. However, they all show confidence and outstanding ability to conquer high international awards ,” said Ms. Man.

Continuously setting records for achievements in national and international competitions, Ms. Man said this is partly due to the fact that students are encouraged to freely research and learn a variety of specialized knowledge right in school. Not only do they deepen their knowledge of the subjects according to regulations, many students are also very good at other Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.

In the 2023 grade 10 exam organized by the Department of Education and Training, grade 9 students of Newton Secondary and High School led Bac Tu Liem district with an average score of 40.57 (of which the average score for English was 9.05 points; Math was 8.37 points and Literature was 7.39 points). The school has 43 students passing the entrance exams to specialized schools. In particular, the school's 9G0 class is a strong group with a group of students with great achievements, many students passing the specialized exams and some students passing 2-3 specialized exams.
