On the morning of May 17, in Xuyen Moc district ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 coordinated with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and Xuyen Moc district to organize a mass mobilization program with the theme "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen".

Authorities propagate the law to fishermen and ship owners

At the hall of the People's Committee of Bung Rieng commune, the program took place with the main content being to propagate and disseminate legal regulations on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU), combined with practical social security activities.

Coast Guard officers and soldiers propagate the law as well as remind fishermen and ship owners to comply with regulations when catching seafood.

Reporters from the Coast Guard Region 3 Command informed fishermen and fishing boat owners in the district about the current maritime security situation; and at the same time disseminated legal regulations related to seafood exploitation activities.

Fishermen sign pledge to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing

Here, ship owners and captains were organized to sign a commitment not to violate IUU regulations. Officers and soldiers also distributed leaflets to propagate the Law of the Sea of ​​Vietnam, along with prohibited acts in the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of our country.

Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, said that since the beginning of 2025, the unit has coordinated with the Propaganda Department and the Mass Mobilization Department of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee to carry out many activities towards the sea, islands and fishermen.

These programs not only contribute to strengthening the military-civilian solidarity relationship but also provide timely encouragement and support for fishermen, policy families and households in difficult circumstances, to continue to go offshore, develop the economy and contribute to overcoming the European Commission's (EC) IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.

Also within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee coordinated with local armed forces to launch the campaign "Join hands to protect the environment", cleaning up trash along the Binh Chau coast. Mobile propaganda activities on environmental protection and IUU regulations were also organized in coastal residential areas and the Binh Chau fishing port area, where fishing boats were anchored.

Armed forces join hands to clean the beach

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 presented 50 gifts including national flags, life jackets, flashlights, necessities and cash to policy families and fishermen in difficult circumstances, demonstrating the spirit of sharing and accompanying fishermen in the journey to protect the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
