Russians continue to use "buried" attack tactics in Kupyansk
The Russian army is conducting a “buried” attack on the city of Kupyansk, continuing to surprise Ukrainian defenders.

Ukrainian sources admit that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost control of most of the city of Kupyansk in the northeast of Kharkiv province, in Eastern Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainian media also blame the AFU leadership for underestimating this front. Channels linked to Ukrainian intelligence agencies such as Deep State, claim that the Russian military (RFAF) carried out a version of the Sudzhan “Potok” (commonly known as Truba) operation on the Kupyansk front. Deep State previously mentioned a similar tactic carried out by the RFAF in Avdiivka, a heavily fortified area west of Donetsk.
Deep State claims that “the Russians have built a logistics route” almost right under the Oskol River, with an entrance in the area of the town of Liman Pervyi. The underground attack route along this “tunnel”, to Kupyansk, takes about 4 days – if traveling by electric scooters and “specially designed wheelchairs”. Ukrainian sources also accused the AFU General Staff, and directly the AFU Commander-in-Chief, General Syrsky, of not taking into account the experience of both Avdiivka and Sudzha, when the RFAF made full use of underground sewers and gas pipes to penetrate behind the AFU defense line. One of the significant concerns of the AFU in Kupyansk is that there is a large number of Russian UAVs operating on this front. And this is not just a "removal" of Ukrainian military logistics, but also a direct attack on targets in the city. Russia's Rybar channel said that the northern, western and central areas of Kupyansk are currently under Russian control. The AFU mainly controls the areas south of Dzerdinsky Street (known in Russia as Svatovskaya Street), and north of this street is the Kupyansk-Yuzhny station.
Regarding information about the "Kupyansk Underground Pipeline", the Ukrainian side said that the Russian army once again applied the "burrowing" tactic to successfully attack behind the Ukrainian army's defense line in Kupyansk, surprising the AFU defense force. According to Readovka, the RFAF is determined to capture the entire area north of Kupyansk, forcing the Ukrainian army to retreat to the reserve defense line. Specifically, the RFAF began to withdraw from their positions in the industrial zone northeast of Kupyansk, because on the other bank of the Oskol River, the Russian army penetrated deep into the Ukrainian defense line. This also shows that the AFU is currently incapable of organizing continuous defense lines in Kupyansk, and the gaps in this defense line are the weak points that the RFAF can exploit to divide the Ukrainian army's combat formations. In such a situation, the AFU General Staff was forced to reduce the length of the front line, to make the defensive formation denser and to fill the gaps. Basically, the AFU organized the defense along a new line, accepting to abandon the old lines; because if they had proceeded slowly, the consequences could have been much more serious for them. The new defense line established by the AFU will apparently run along the axis Blagovatovka - Yubileyny subdistrict - Olkhovaya Roshcha forest - Podoly village. The main goal that the AFU General Staff can achieve is to buy time and withdraw all forces from the villages east of the Oskol River.
In addition to ensuring the temporary stability of the defense forces, the potential AFU defense line presented above would also include the important embankment line, near the railway bridge on the Oskol River near Kupyansk-Uzlovy. In general, the AFU has begun a large-scale operation to evacuate the entire "Kupyansk bridgehead": defending the eastern bank of Oskol with the appearance of Russian troops west of the city has become extremely dangerous. Therefore, the AFU will retreat to the western bank, and although this route is key, it is not the only artery. Currently, on the west bank of the Oskol River, where the AFU is building a new defense line, there are about 3-4 thousand Ukrainian troops of various units, including foreign mercenaries. Therefore, the AFU General Staff needs to organize this "mess", so that it can then cover the direction of Izyum and Balakleya.
In a development closely related to Kupyansk, The Opinion channel commented that at the Dvurechensky bridgehead (in the Kharkov region), the RFAF took advantage of the opportunity, turning local victories into strategic momentum. Pro-Kiev sources increasingly admit that the Dvurechensky bridgehead became the turning point for Russia's attack on Kupyansk. (photo source: Military Review, Ukrinform, Kyiv Post).
