“Origin” – retrospective exhibition of female artist To Bich Hai

On the afternoon of March 7, 2025, the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Origin" by overseas Vietnamese artist To Bich Hai took place at the Vietnam Women's Museum. The exhibition was organized by the Vietnam Women's Museum in collaboration with Le Ba Dang Memorial Space and Lan Tinh Foundation, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2025).

On the afternoon of March 7, 2025, the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Origin” by overseas Vietnamese artist To Bich Hai took place at the Vietnam Women’s Museum. The exhibition was organized by the Vietnam Women’s Museum in collaboration with Le Ba Dang Memorial Space and Lan Tinh Foundation, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 – March 8, 2025).

The exhibition “Origin” introduces paintings, sculptures and installations by artist To Bich Hai, offering a unique perspective on the connection between humans and nature, between tradition and modernity. This is not only the artistic journey of a female artist living abroad, but also a message about the sustainable value of Vietnamese culture in the flow of integration.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum, emphasized:
“With the mission of honoring and spreading the cultural values of Vietnamese women, the Museum always focuses on introducing unique artistic stories to the public. The exhibition 'Origin' not only demonstrates the creative talent of a Vietnamese overseas female artist, but also demonstrates the power of art in connecting people with their national roots.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum, delivered the opening speech at the event.

As for artist To Bich Hai, she emotionally shared:
“Although I have been away from my homeland for more than 60 years, Vietnam has always been an endless source of inspiration for me. Every work I create carries the breath of my homeland, of my childhood memories by the river, the mountains, stories about nature and the people of Vietnam. The exhibition “Origins” can be said to be a journey following the major changes in my career with many different materials. What I want to say a lot about “Origins” I have expressed in my works .

Painter To Bich Hai shares at the event

At the opening ceremony, artist To Bich Hai presented two representative paintings from her creative career to the Vietnam Women's Museum. This is a meaningful gift, not only contributing to enriching the Museum's art collection but also expressing her deep gratitude to her homeland.

The exhibition “Origins” brings to the public unique works expressed through many materials such as oil painting, graphite, wood sculpture and installation art. In particular, the series of works “Listening to the rocks whisper” and “Listening to the trees sigh” express the deep connection between humans and nature, while evoking thoughts about memories, origins and national identity.

The exhibition is open from March 7 to March 25, 2025 at the Vietnam Women's Museum.
