Vietnamese Family Day, celebrated on June 28th, is a special occasion with profound meaning in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. It's a day for people to connect, honor family values, and build a solid foundation for the future. Where did this holiday originate, and what is its significance?

The origin of Vietnam Family Day on June 28th.

Always emphasizing the role of the family in the overall development of society, President Ho Chi Minh once said: "Caring for the family is right because many families together make up society; a good family leads to a good society, and a good society makes families even better. The nucleus of society is the family." Responding to this teaching of Uncle Ho, on June 28, 2000, the Politburo issued Directive No. 55-CT/TW on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at the grassroots level in the work of protecting, caring for, and educating children.

The directive considers building sustainable and happy families as an important goal, emphasizing the role and responsibility of families, providing assistance and creating the necessary conditions for families to fulfill their responsibilities towards the younger generation, and creating a healthy environment for children's development.

Nearly a year later, on May 4, 2001, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 72/2001/QD-TTg designating June 28th as Vietnam Family Day. This decision aimed to promote, maintain, and develop the positive cultural values of the Vietnamese family in the context of modern society.

The decision also emphasizes the role of the family and the responsibility of officials at all levels and in all sectors, as well as the entire society, in building civilized, equal, progressive, and happy families, promoting the protection, care, and education of children, and contributing to the building and protection of the Fatherland.

The creation of this day stems from the desire to provide an opportunity for people to nurture their families together and gain a deeper understanding of the important role of family in personal and social life.
