Former principal of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine resigns

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has signed a decision to terminate the employment of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep, former principal of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, at his request.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just signed a decision on termination of employment for civil servants. According to the decision, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep (born in 1976), working at the Medical Affairs Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, has been approved for termination.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep was allowed to resign from his job as desired, effective September 8, 2025. The Department of Health has assigned the department office to coordinate with relevant units to carry out necessary procedures, ensuring full rights and benefits for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep after his resignation.

Previously, in April 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Committee issued a press release on reviewing and disciplining 1 party organization and 2 party members of the Party Committee of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine for the 2020-2025 term.

Specifically, disciplinary action in the form of reprimand will be taken against the Party Committee of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine for the 2020-2025 term.

This Party Committee lacked responsibility in organizing, implementing, adjusting, and amending the working regulations of the School Party Committee; lacked responsibility in leading, directing, and organizing the implementation of resolutions and regulations on organization and personnel work.

Along with that is lax leadership, lack of inspection and supervision of compliance with Party regulations and State laws, leading to many Party members having shortcomings and violations to the extent that they must be reviewed, considered, and disciplined.

Regarding the individual's responsibility for the above shortcomings and violations, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Committee has disciplined two party members of this party committee.

Accordingly, a warning was issued to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the School Council, Principal of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, former member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the City's University and College Block.

In May 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a meeting on personnel work of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. At the meeting, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced the decisions of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on personnel work of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine; announced the decision on assignment and work arrangement for leading officials of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, and assigned Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep to take up the task and work at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

At the same time, announce the decision to discipline Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep with a warning in accordance with the provisions of Clause 2, Article 1 of Decree 71/20-23/NDCP.

This Decision takes effect from the effective date of Decision No. 658-QD/UBKTTU dated April 3, 2025 of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Commission. The specific tasks of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep are assigned by the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
