
On November 17, the areas of Tay Nha Trang, Nam Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang wards and Dien Khanh commune were heavily flooded due to floods from upstream after two days of heavy rain.

Since this morning, floods have been cutting off the roads connecting Nha Trang and Dien Khanh. Water has entered hundreds of houses downstream of Cai River, with depths ranging from 0.5m to over 1.5m in some places. Many people have taken to social media to ask for help; some have asked friends to bring necessities.

At the area of 23/10 Street, Tay Nha Trang Ward, the eastern point begins to separate hundreds of households in the area. Authorities were mobilized, carrying life buoys and life jackets to approach and bring isolated residents to safety.

In the heavily flooded areas of Vinh Phuong, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Trung, Vinh Thai (West Nha Trang ward), rescue forces urgently rescued people with the spirit of putting the farthest people first, the nearest people later, prioritizing the elderly and children.

Hundreds of officers and soldiers were mobilized to support people in Tay Nha Trang ward and Dien Khanh, Suoi Hiep and Suoi Dau communes. Up to now, many places in Khanh Hoa province are still flooded, with no recorded human casualties.

In particular, the 23/10 road section through Dien Khanh commune was completely flooded, An Ninh and Phuoc Trach villages were completely cut off. Many people abandoned their motorbikes and waded through the water to Tay Nha Trang ward to support their isolated families.

Homemade floating rafts were used by locals to help them get home quickly. The evacuation of people from the danger zone was carried out urgently.

According to Khanh Hoa Province's Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of November 17, the whole province had moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain; rainfall was generally from 100 to 150mm, in some places over 200mm.

Mr. Doan Quang Duc (residing in Tay Nha Trang ward) said the flood came quickly, the water was chest deep. His house was built 1 meter higher than the road surface but was still submerged in water.

Until 5 p.m., floodwaters were still flowing downstream at a high rate. Mr. Le Xuan (residing in Tay Nha Trang ward) shook his head and said: "I came home from work and saw that my house was already deeply flooded. All my belongings were gone."

During the afternoon and night of November 17, the whole Khanh Hoa province is forecast to continue to have moderate to heavy rain. Rainfall is generally from 30 to 50mm, with some places over 100mm.
