The tourism industry in Binh Dinh province is setting ambitious goals for 2024, aiming to welcome 5.5 million visitors and generate revenue of 18,500 billion VND. To attract a large number of domestic and international tourists, the Binh Dinh provincial tourism sector has approved a plan to organize numerous activities across diverse fields.

Besides organizing unique festivals to welcome the tourist season, Binh Dinh is also aiming for international-level events, most notably the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024, an international professional motorboat race taking place from March 23 to February 31.

The Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024 will include the ABP Aquabike World Championship, held from March 22nd to 24th, and the UIM F1H2O Formula 1 World Championship, from March 29th to 31st, both being held for the first time in Quy Nhon City. The competition will bring together more than 70 athletes, including top racers from around the world.

The UIM F1 H2O professional motorboat race is one of the fastest and most adventurous races in the world, featuring dramatic maneuvers such as navigating corners at 145 km/h and reaching speeds of up to 226 km/h on the straight sections.

In the Formula 1 UIM F1H2O motorboat racing event, Binh Dinh officially has a racing team named Binh Dinh Vietnam. This team will begin competing in the first round in Indonesia at the end of February. The Binh Dinh Vietnam team consists of the reigning UIM F1H2O world champion Jonas Andersson, along with rookie driver Stefan Arand from Estonia.

"I've had memorable experiences at the tournaments where I've won. I'll work even harder to achieve better results in the upcoming challenges, especially at the tournament held in Binh Dinh, Vietnam this year," racer Jonas Andersson affirmed.

Tickets to watch the ABP Aquabike jet ski and UIM F1H2O Formula 1 motorboat event range from 800,000 VND to 2.8 million VND for children, and 1 million VND to 2.8 million VND for adults.

Jonas Andersson is very experienced in racing.

Mr. Tran Viet Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Binh Dinh F1 Joint Stock Company, the co-organizer of the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024, shared: "When we brought jet ski and motorboat racing to Vietnam, we initially just wanted to create a simple event."

However, with the idea of combining sports with tourism, culture, and the local economy , and boosting Vietnam's sports economy with its potential of $320 million, we want to collaborate with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province to become a pioneer in bringing this attractive sport to audiences, allowing Vietnamese fans to have more contact with water sports, especially given Vietnam's beautiful coastline and diverse river system.

Hopefully, through promoting and attracting international sporting events to Vietnam, we can enhance the image of the Vietnamese people and country to friends around the world."

According to Tran Van Thanh, Director of the Binh Dinh Department of Tourism: "Binh Dinh is a province located in the South Central coastal region of Vietnam, with a favorable location at the center of the North-South axis via road, rail, and air. Binh Dinh has beautiful coastlines, many tourist attractions, and a rich system of historical relics, which are prerequisites for tourism development."

Binh Dinh possesses a rich cultural and historical heritage, a diverse marine ecosystem, and friendly, chivalrous people, making it a miniature Vietnam. It has established itself on the international tourism map, being voted by the press and media as a top destination in Southeast Asia.

Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh province, is also one of the three Vietnamese cities awarded the Clean Tourism City award at the Southeast Asia Forum. In 2023, Binh Dinh tourism had many programs to attract domestic and international tourists, welcoming over 5 million visitors and generating revenue of 17,000 billion VND.

Leaders of the Binh Dinh Department of Tourism expect that international tournaments like the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh, as well as a series of sports and tourism events, will enhance the province's standing and attract more domestic and international tourists.
