That's Nguyen Gia Hung, a 12th-grade student from Ngo Gia Tu High School (Cam Ranh City), who noticed his bank account had received 490 million VND from a stranger. He verified the information and returned the money to the person who mistakenly transferred it.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Hung said the money was transferred on March 25th, but he didn't pay attention to it at all.
Then, on March 26th, Hung suddenly discovered a large sum of money in his account while having dinner with his family.
"At that time, I was both scared and worried because I had never received such a large sum of money before. Afterwards, I informed my parents, but because my bank account had limitations and I couldn't transfer such a large amount, and I hadn't been able to verify the information of the person who mistakenly transferred the money, I couldn't return it," Hung recounted.
On March 27th, Hung proactively asked to be excused from two classes at school to go to the bank with his father.
After verifying the information regarding the person who mistakenly transferred the money, the bank assisted Hung in returning the 490 million VND to the person who made the transfer.
It is understood that the person who mistakenly transferred the money was Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (from Hai Duong ), who intended to send the money to a business partner but mistakenly transferred it to Hung's account.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, principal of Ngo Gia Tu High School, said that Hung is a sociable student with a strong desire to excel in his studies. Hung is the eldest son in his family and is usually filial to his parents.
"Despite receiving such a large sum of money, Hung remained honest and did not take advantage of others. The school will award him a certificate of merit and commend him to spread this good deed," Ms. Yen shared.
