Wisteria (Fuji in Japanese) is a flower with a gentle, captivating beauty and holds deep meaning in Japanese culture.

Wisteria typically blooms in late spring, possessing a unique and striking beauty thanks to its long, cascading clusters of flowers in shades of purple, pale pink, or pure white, creating a rare and poetic scene.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Japan, one of the most famous places to see wisteria flowers in the Land of the Rising Sun is Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi Prefecture, where the magical wisteria tunnels captivate visitors.

The wisteria festival here is always one of the most prominent and beloved spring flower viewing events in Japan.

Every year, from around mid-April to mid-May, the park, ablaze with the vibrant colors of over 350 wisteria trees belonging to 12 different varieties, attracts hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors.

The highlight of the festival is the wisteria tunnels, where long, soft clusters of flowers hang down to form romantic and magical floral arches.

The most striking among them is a 160-year-old wisteria tree with a canopy of flowers covering nearly 1,000 square meters, along with other large wisteria trees intertwined, creating a sky covered in purple blossoms.

The ancient wisteria tree is not only a symbol of the Japanese wisteria festival, but in 2014, CNN voted it one of the world's "Dream Destinations," ranking it alongside natural wonders such as the ice caves in Iceland or the Sahara Desert.

In Japanese culture, wisteria is considered a symbol of eternal love and fidelity. The soft, drooping clusters of flowers resemble a humble bow, symbolizing a gentle yet profound affection that is unpretentious and enduring.

Besides its symbolism of love, wisteria is also associated with vibrant vitality.

Wisteria is a sturdy woody plant that can live for hundreds of years and produces clusters of vibrant, delicate flowers every spring, symbolizing the enduring vitality and resilient spirit of humanity.

During the Heian period (794-1185), the powerful Fujiwara clan also adopted wisteria as their family symbol. Therefore, this flower also carries connotations of nobility, elegance, and sophistication.

With its dreamy beauty and profound meaning, wisteria is not just a decorative flower but also embodies the Japanese spirit: gentle, resilient, and deeply emotional.
