High expectations for the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025

The National Tourism Year 2025, themed “Hue – Ancient Capital, New Opportunities,” is a significant national and international-scale cultural, economic , social, and tourism event, combined with the Hue Festival 2025; it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue province and celebrates Hue becoming a centrally-governed city.

The organization of these activities is expected to be a significant boost to the overall economy and society, and tourism in Thua Thien Hue province in particular; creating conditions to attract investment resources for development and the creation of new, attractive products. At the same time, it will contribute to the socio-economic development of the province in 2025 and the following years.

Activities organized within the framework of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will focus on four main program groups: the Spring Festival "Spring in the Ancient Capital", the Summer Festival "The Shining Imperial City", the Autumn Festival "Hue in Autumn", and the Winter Festival "Winter in Hue", with more than 170 national and provincial-level events.

With the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival in 2025, Hue expects to attract approximately 4.8 - 5 million tourists.

Specifically, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other central agencies organized 8 national-level activities, while Thua Thien Hue province chaired 62 activities (including 46 activities under the National Tourism Year program and 16 activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2025). Provinces and centrally-governed cities organized 102 activities in response to the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.

Among these activities, there are four key events: the Opening Ceremony of the "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" combined with a fireworks display celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue province, taking place on the evening of March 25, 2025; the International Conference on Cultural Industries - the foundation for sustainable tourism development, also on March 25, 2025; the Culture and Tourism Festival and a program introducing Vietnamese tourism, cuisine, and traditional crafts, connecting businesses in the European market during the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, expected in June 2025; and the Closing Ceremony of the "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" at the end of December 2025...

With a series of activities and events organized during the National Tourism Year and the Hue Festival in 2025, Hue expects to attract approximately 4.8 - 5 million tourists, of which international tourists will account for about 38 - 40% of the total; total tourism revenue is expected to reach about 10,800 - 11,200 billion VND. At the same time, this will create a breakthrough for Hue tourism in 2025, preparing it for strong development on the foundation of the ancient capital with a new opportunity in a new era of the country.

Speaking at the press conference, Director General of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that in 2024, the tourism industry is considered a bright spot in Vietnam's socio-economic landscape. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at approximately 840 trillion VND, an increase of 24% compared to the same period in 2023.

Vietnam continues to affirm its reputation as a safe and friendly destination on the regional and global tourism map. The World Travel Awards (WTA) once again honored Vietnam in three categories: Asia's Leading Destination, Asia's Leading Heritage Destination, and Asia's Leading Nature Destination.

With its strategically important political and economic location, situated within the Central Vietnam key economic zone, serving as a gateway to the East-West economic corridor, and as a connecting point in the "Central Vietnam Heritage Route," Thua Thien Hue province is honored to be selected as the host locality for the National Tourism Year in 2025.

“We believe that through the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 event, the values ​​and potential of tourism in Thua Thien Hue province in particular and Vietnamese tourism in general will be effectively brought together, developed, and promoted, contributing to realizing the goal of making tourism a key economic sector.”

"The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is committed to working closely with Thua Thien Hue province to organize the National Tourism Year 2025 effectively and efficiently, practically celebrating the major national holidays in 2025," Director Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized.

The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center and other units took place at the press conference.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Binh, in the context of Hue City being recognized as a centrally-governed city, organizing the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is of paramount importance in the process of building Hue City into a sustainably developed city based on preserving and promoting the heritage values ​​of the ancient capital and Hue's cultural identity, with its distinctive culture, heritage, ecology, landscape, environmental friendliness, and smart features.

This is also a typical cultural and tourism event, of national scale and international significance, for localities across the country to introduce and promote the beauty of traditional cultural values, resources, and unique tourism products of the people and country of Vietnam; contributing to the development of tourism and creating momentum for socio-economic development for Hue and other localities nationwide.
