On September 2, Cambodian press and media agencies such as FRESH News, CNC, Thmeythmey... simultaneously published many articles revolving around the parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, emphasizing the grand scale of the ceremony taking place on the same day, as well as the great significance of the historical event in the neighboring country 8 decades ago.
According to a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, in a report published on September 2, the FRESH News website said that Vietnam celebrated the 80th anniversary of its National Day with the largest military parade in decades, along with a decision to grant amnesty to nearly 14,000 prisoners.
Tens of thousands of people gathered on the streets of the capital Hanoi , most of them wearing red shirts with yellow stars and holding high the Vietnamese national flag as a symbol of patriotism.
At the parade, Vietnam displayed state-of-the-art weapons such as tanks, missiles, helicopters and fighter jets. In addition to thousands of Vietnamese soldiers, there were also troops from China, Russia, Laos and Cambodia.
FRESH News noted that Vietnamese leaders and international guests sat to watch the parade at the historic Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945, after nearly a century of French colonial rule and a brief period of Japanese control during World War II.
In an article on the same topic, the website of CNC Television, a member of Royal Group, mentioned the attendance of Senate President, Cambodian People's Party (CPP) President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the high-ranking Cambodian delegation at the event, along with the message of the CPP leader, published on his personal Facebook page on the morning of September 2, when he had just attended the event.
Accordingly, the article emphasized the event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) solemnly held at Ba Dinh Square to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic spirit of the soldiers who fought for the just cause, while affirming that "their patriotism and sacrifice for the right to self-determination are always remembered and respected."
Considering National Day as the beginning of a new era, marked by resilience, solidarity and hope, citing the message of CPP President Hun Sen, the CNC article stated: “Vietnam's National Day 80 years ago was not only for the Vietnamese people, but also a source of motivation for Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, to rise up and fight for independence from colonialism. The celebration is also an occasion for Vietnam to remember and pay tribute to the great contributions of veteran leaders, heroic martyrs, compatriots and comrades of Vietnam who fought and sacrificed for national independence.”
According to Cambodian media, under the far-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , headed by General Secretary To Lam, the Government and people of Vietnam have set two millennium goals to be achieved in the future: Becoming a developing, modern industrialized, upper-middle-income country by 2030, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam; becoming a developed, high-income socialist country by 2045, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation, to enhance Vietnam's position and prestige in the region and on the international arena.
In a related article, Thmeythmey electronic newspaper reported that on the morning of September 2, Vietnam held a large-scale military parade in Hanoi to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the declaration of independence in 1945 under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, announcing the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, freeing it from French rule.
According to Thmeythmey, the parade, which involved about 40,000 military personnel and civilians, tanks, drones and missile systems parading through the streets, while helicopters and planes hovered in the sky, attracted thousands of spectators in downtown Hanoi.
At the ceremony, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam delivered an important speech before the people and international guests. In his speech at the sacred moment of the event, the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam expressed his respect and tribute to his predecessors, while affirming that Vietnam has overcome many difficulties and challenges, transforming itself from a colony into an independent, unified nation and moving towards modern development.
An article on Thmeythmey's Khmer-language homepage described the parade on the morning of September 2 in Hanoi taking place in an atmosphere of national pride, with thousands of Vietnamese soldiers marching in unison and shouting commands.
In addition to the above article, Thmeythmey also relayed a live broadcast of the important event in Vietnam on its digital platforms, through the Thmeythmey Fanpage (Khmer) and the newspaper's English version under the name Cambodianess or CamNess./.
