Explosion in Paris, France: Nearly 40 people injured and missing

A large explosion shook Rue Saint-Jacques street, in the 5th district of Paris (France), leaving at least 37 people injured and 2 people missing.

The explosion also caused a large fire, causing a building to collapse, and many windows in surrounding houses within a 400m radius were broken.

About 70 fire trucks and more than 300 firefighters were mobilized to the scene. Rescue workers and sniffer dogs are still trying to find two people trapped in the rubble of the above building, while four victims have been taken to the emergency room in critical condition.

The cause of the incident is being urgently clarified. According to the initial investigation results, this could be a gas explosion in the collapsed building.
