(CLO) On the afternoon of November 18th, the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, held a ceremony to announce the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024.


Attending the press conference were journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition; Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Acting Director of the Center for Culture and Journalism, and Standing Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition; Mr. Pham Xuan Tai - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Mr. Bien Thanh Hai, Marketing Director of Sao Vang Beer, Wine and Beverage Group Joint Stock Company, along with reporters from various media outlets in Hanoi.

This is an annual event organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, in response to the campaign "All citizens practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," and to promote the sports training movement among journalists nationwide.

The tournament attracted numerous reporters, journalists, and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association from media agencies and associations at all levels across the country, with 14 competition categories. It also served as a valuable platform for exchange, helping to strengthen solidarity and connection between media agencies and the community.

Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the award - delivered a speech at the announcement ceremony.

At the announcement ceremony, Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Acting Director of the Center for Culture and Journalism, introduced the main contents and new features of this year's tournament.

Accordingly, due to the limitations of the arena, the competition time per day has been shortened compared to last year, starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM (with a lunch break). Therefore, the Organizing Committee has adjusted the regulations so that men and women can register for 3 events (compared to 4 events for women last year). In addition, to make the tournament more professional, the Organizing Committee has included regulations regarding competition attire in the rules this year.

Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Acting Director of the Center for Culture and Journalism, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Information Award Organizing Committee, at the announcement ceremony.

According to Ms. Le My Ai Linh: "This year's tournament is organized on a larger and more professional scale, with a more modern arena and equipment. This year, sponsor Kamito has equipped the final matches with 'Titanium' tables, unprecedented in previous seasons. Regarding prizes, this year, with the support of Savabeco, the prize money has doubled. The total prize value is 238,000,000 VND, not including supplementary prizes."

This year, the organizing committee also focused on direct communication and broadcasting on digital platforms so that fans and table tennis enthusiasts could follow and cheer remotely. In addition to live broadcasts on Hanoi Radio and Television, the event was also broadcast on the station's digital platforms. The organizing committee also created a Fanpage to update information and images about the teams, athletes, match schedules, and highlights of the matches for easy viewing.

Mr. Kieu Thanh Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association, represented the delegations participating in the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup.

According to the organizers, as of the afternoon of November 18th, the tournament had recorded the participation of 193 athletes. Among them, the Vietnam Television table tennis team sent the largest contingent with 25 athletes…

During the information exchange at the ceremony, journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament - assessed: this is a sporting event eagerly awaited annually by journalists who love table tennis across the country. Over the years, the organizing committee has always strived for innovation and improvement in the quality of the tournament. In addition to previous regulations, this year's tournament includes new features, firstly, being held at a better location, and the tournament name has been partially changed to reflect the tournament's sponsor.

Journalists and reporters from various media outlets posed questions to the Organizing Committee of the Award.

Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi shared: "The 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024 is a grassroots sports event, a sports competition for journalists, where there is a spirit of noble sportsmanship. The participants are journalist members, therefore I sincerely hope that the athletes and media agencies participating in the tournament will strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the competition."

On this occasion, the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association also expressed his wish that media agencies would dedicate more time to promoting the tournament. He hoped that the tournament would continue to be a useful platform, thereby motivating and encouraging the working spirit and creativity of its members, and contributing to improving the quality of the Association's activities.

The 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship - Golden Star Cup 2024 will take place from December 1st to 3rd, 2024, at Cau Giay Gymnasium, 35 Tran Quy Kien Street, Hanoi.
