Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien, whose real name is Nguyen Ngoc Chieu, comes from an artistic family, but his parents opposed his pursuit of art. Thanks to his perseverance, he eventually gained their approval, and upon embarking on his acting career, he quickly rose to fame.
Some of the impressive plays that Thanh Dien has participated in include: "The King of Swords" (playing Song Ci Li), "Autumn Evening of Sorrowful Farewell" (playing Hei Wan), "In What Lifetime Will We Love Each Other?" (playing Genghis Khan)...
In 1970, artist Thanh Dien joined the Kim Chung 2 troupe. In 1974, he founded the Xuan Lien Hoa theater troupe. The leading actress of the troupe at that time was Meritorious Artist Thanh Kim Hue, who later became his wife.
Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien won a gold medal for his performance in the play "White Night" (playing the role of President Ho Chi Minh) at the 1995 National Professional Theatre Festival. Later, he also successfully portrayed President Ho Chi Minh in the play "Ancient Traces" by the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre...
Meanwhile, playwright Hoang Song Viet was born into a poor working-class family with many siblings. At the age of 6, a severe fever caused him to become paralyzed in one leg. Despite facing many difficulties in life, he always persevered, studied hard, and excelled in his studies.
Having been fascinated by cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) since childhood, he dreamed of one day working in a theatrical field. Participating in the traditional music club in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, he gradually taught himself cải lương pieces. There, he met a friend who was a cải lương artist. Recognizing his potential for writing, a few years later, this friend introduced him to the Youth Commercial cải lương Troupe. After a period of self-training, he worked tirelessly to write scripts.
Playwright Hoang Song Viet's reputation soared after his play "Green Snake - White Snake" was performed at the Hoa Binh Theater. Later, Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, upon launching the Song Be 2 Troupe, commissioned him to write the script for "Fated Love," which propelled many artists who won the Tran Huu Trang Gold Medal to stardom.
Regarding the Tran Huu Trang Award, he made many contributions, providing numerous traditional songs and excerpts for artists to compete in, including the "Golden Bell of Traditional Music" competition on HTV and the "Golden Rice Ear" competition on VOH…
Three years ago, playwright Hoang Song Viet retired.
