Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 aims to develop and promote tourism in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
At the same time, we should promote and honor the traditional Vietnamese ao dai, so that the ao dai becomes a unique and attractive tourism product of Hanoi.
"The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 is an activity to promote the image of the people of Hanoi, as a 'safe, friendly, high-quality, and attractive destination,' attracting locals, domestic tourists, and international friends. The event is also gradually establishing itself as an annual activity of Hanoi tourism," Mr. Minh emphasized.
The festival takes place from October 4th to 6th at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center in Hanoi. The opening ceremony will be held on October 4th at the Doan Mon Square stage within the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center in Hanoi.
The highlight of the event is the "Essence of Ao Dai" art program, consisting of three chapters: Golden History, Bridge of Interaction, and Journey of Dissemination.
At the opening ceremony, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will open with his ao dai collection titled "Luong Duyen" (Love and Destiny). The collection comprises 75 meticulously designed ao dai models, strongly reflecting Eastern fashion trends.
In the collection, Do Trinh Hoai Nam recreated the meaningful historical journey of the land of the rising dragon (Thang Long), featuring 25 modernized five-panel men's ao dai designs with dragon motifs as the main theme. In addition, phoenix and lotus motifs were cleverly incorporated into 50 other special ao dai designs.
Following that, there was a fashion show featuring ao dai collections by designers such as Duc Hung, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, Miss Ngoc Han, Thuy Nguyen, La Hang, Vu Thao Giang, Luu Quynh Lan, and others.
On October 5th, the Ao Dai Night Festival will take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Hanoi Women's Union, and the Vietnam Ao Dai Club.

As the President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Club, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will bring together more than 70 outstanding designers from the North, Central, and South regions, representing nearly 10,000 graduates from the Ao Dai tailoring and design program, to showcase their collections at the event.
At the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will launch a collection of five-panel ao dai for children.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam said that through this collection, he hopes to bring traditional culture closer to young people. He wants them to grow up having absorbed the traditional culture of their ancestors.
"Our generation has experienced many hardships, born during the subsidy period, when the country was still facing many difficulties. When we were young, we only saw the brown or silk ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) worn by our grandparents when they went to temples or village shrines, or through films and newspapers, but those images were not common."
"I feel fortunate to have learned about the traditional values that our ancestors have built. I know I need to cherish and promote those cultural legacies, so this time, I will design five-panel ao dai for both boys and girls," the Hanoi-born designer shared.
According to the Organizing Committee, the festival will include a comprehensive art program featuring folk dance performances and a carnival (street festival) titled "Hanoi Women's Ao Dai: Integration and Development," aiming to spread the love of Ao Dai to a wide audience of people, friends, and international tourists of all ages and genders.
