Specifically, traditional Vietnamese materials such as raw silk, bamboo fiber fabric, and ramie silk (a material combining green hemp and silk) are used; in addition, some Japanese materials such as leather, chiffon, wool, and silk are also incorporated. Phan Dang Hoang, out of admiration for Yen Thai dó paper, chose to use ramie silk with similar properties; through this, he wanted to recreate and honor this 500-year-old type of paper.
