During a question-and-answer session on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the possibility of negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Accordingly, the Kremlin chief said he would talk to Mr. Zelensky if he participated in the election and was elected as the legitimate leader of Ukraine.

It is known that Mr. Zelensky's presidential term expired in May. However, Mr. Zelensky refused to hold elections due to martial law.

In addition, Mr. Putin added, Russia is ready to negotiate with Kiev "without preconditions", but the content of the exchange must be based on the preliminary results of the Istanbul talks from 2022 and "the reality on the ground". If Ukraine wants to pursue the path of peaceful settlement, it must form a legitimate government.

"We can only sign documents and agreements with legitimate authorities," the Russian leader said.

Also at the question and answer session, the Kremlin leader once again affirmed that Russia is " always ready to negotiate and compromise ", including on Ukraine, while emphasizing that Kiev is the one who refuses to participate in the negotiation agreements.

Mr. Putin recalled that Russia and Ukraine were close to reaching a peace agreement during talks in Istanbul in the spring of 2022, but the deal fell apart due to the intervention of then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, the Military Summary channel reported that there are increasing signs that the Ukrainian army (AFU) may attack Russia's Bryansk region. After the "tactical identification" symbol for the new AFU group was leaked, the first reports of Kiev's forces moving into the Chernihiv region appeared.

In the direction of Kursk, Russian and neutral sources confirmed that the villages of Russkoe Porechnoe and Cherkasskoe Porechnoe were recaptured by Moscow forces.

At Velyka Novosilka, Russian Army (RFAF) attacks focused on the southern villages and fields.

Moscow forces are also launching the first offensive in the Shevshenko direction.

At Kurakhove, the first geographical location that shows Russian control of Uspenivka. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense , Trudove was also taken over at the same time. Along the Sukhi Yali River, Moscow forces captured most of the villages and fields.

At the same time, pro-Kiev sources confirmed that Russian troops were advancing towards Kostiantynopil. Control of the village would severely limit the AFU's supply lines.
