(Chinhphu.vn) - The Politburo appointed Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

On the morning of October 14, at the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, the representative of the Central Organizing Committee announced the decision of the Politburo on appointing the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretaries of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo 's decision to appoint Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Also at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong announced the Politburo's decisions to mobilize, assign, and appoint Mr. Le Quoc Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province, to participate in the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term and hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The Deputy Secretaries of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term include Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Ms. Vo Van Minh, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Mr. Dang Minh Thong, and Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang was born on August 30, 1967, his hometown is Trang Bang ward, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province. He has a Master's degree in Public Administration, Mechanical Engineering; Bachelor's degree in Political Theory.

He is a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th (alternate), 12th, and 13th terms; a National Assembly delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang worked for a long time in Tay Ninh province and held the following positions: Head of Department of Planning and Investment, Deputy of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, Chairman of the People's Committee and then Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

From February 2019 to April 2021, he was Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

From April 2021 to January 2023, he held the position of Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.

From January 2023 to August 2024, he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

From August 2024 to January 2025, he was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.

On January 23, 2025, he was elected by the 13th Party Central Committee to hold the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat.

From February 2025, he held the position of Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.

On August 25, the Politburo decided to transfer, assign, and appoint Mr. Tran Luu Quang to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
