Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper on the afternoon of June 25th, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong, Director of the Regional Radio Frequency Center 1, under the Radio Frequency Department, said that after receiving reports from residents about signal interference that paralyzed smart locks on cars and motorbikes in many areas of Hanoi's inner city, the unit sent experts to verify the situation on June 24th and 25th.
Radio Frequency Bureau experts are tracking down the jamming device.
As a result, at the Cellphone S store on Lac Long Quan Street (Tay Ho District), experts discovered that the store's LED electronic advertising board emitted radiation at the frequency of 433.845 MHz, causing interference on the frequency band used for smart lock devices. Center I handled the issue, and at the request of the regulatory agency, the store ceased operation of the interfering advertising board.
In the area of Thu Cuc General Hospital, 286 Thuy Khe Street (Tay Ho District), a rolling door box of a nearby store was emitting a continuous signal on the frequency 433.970 MHz, causing interference on the frequency band used for smart lock devices. Center I has requested the store to stop operating the interfering device.
After disabling the aforementioned devices, the smart locks in these areas resumed normal operation.
In the Bui Thi Xuan street area, behind the Central Eye Hospital (Hai Ba Trung District) and the parking area on Quang Trung street intersecting with Trang Thi street (Hoan Kiem District), the interference response team did not detect any interfering signals on the frequency band designated for remote control devices.
Mr. Dong stated: "The center will continue to monitor and supervise in the coming period. Specifically in the Trang Thi area, residents reported issues affecting smart locks a few months ago, but these have now ceased."
According to Mr. Dong, roller shutters, LED electronic boards, smart locks, etc., usually share the same frequency band. People buying, selling, and using devices with certificates of conformity will ensure quality. However, if they buy smuggled or counterfeit goods with substandard emission quality, continuous broadcasting can cause interference, affecting remote control devices in the surrounding areas within a radius of about 200 meters.
On June 25th, the Radio Frequency Department established a hotline number, 0862.92.92.92, to receive reports from organizations and individuals regarding radio interference affecting smart locks for cars, motorcycles, and other devices.
Previously, as reported by Thanh Niên newspaper on June 22nd, residents in Dong Tam Ward (Hai Ba Trung District) discovered that in recent days, numerous motorbikes and cars equipped with smart keys would fail to start when parked in the Vong Street area. Families in the area filed reports with authorities, requesting assistance and investigation.
Based on information from Thanh Nien Newspaper, experts from the Regional Radio Frequency Center 1 have detected and resolved the source of interference from a radio-controlled remote control device used to automatically turn on and off a water pump at a family's home on Vong Street.
