The cooperative owns 8 OCOP products.

Duc Nhuan Mushroom Cooperative (Mo Duc district), established in 2011, is known as the first large-scale reishi mushroom cultivation facility in Quang Ngai province .

Our reishi mushroom products are produced using modern methods and meet the "three no's" standard: no growth stimulants, no chemical fertilizers, and no preservatives.

Besides reishi mushrooms, the cooperative also grows oyster mushrooms and promotes the processing of various mushroom products. After many years of production and business, the Duc Nhuan Mushroom Cooperative currently owns 10 product lines, including 8 OCOP-certified products: reishi mushrooms (4-star OCOP product); and 7 OCOP 3-star products, also made from mushrooms, such as oyster mushrooms, oyster mushroom seasoning powder, dried oyster mushroom strands, reishi mushroom wine, reishi mushroom and lotus seed tea, etc.

According to Le Giang Phong, Director of Duc Nhuan Mushroom Cooperative, after being recognized as an OCOP product, the products became known to many consumers. “The cooperative continuously receives invitations for cooperation from supermarkets, OCOP stores, and clean food stores inside and outside the province. The cooperative's product lines are quite well received by consumers,” Mr. Phong said.

As a result, the Duc Nhuan Mushroom Cooperative achieves an average annual revenue of over 3.5 billion VND, providing regular employment for more than 20 local workers with an average income of 10-15 million VND per person per month.

Enhancing traditional craft products

With the desire to continue maintaining and developing the traditional craft passed down from their ancestors, at the end of 2021, Mrs. Pham Thi Thuy Van and Mr. Duong Van Dung (Duc Loi commune) boldly started their business with the fish sauce brand "Ong Ba Ot".

Ong Ba Ot fish sauce is made using a traditional handcrafted fermentation method, which involves fermenting fish and salt in wooden barrels for 15 months or more. After this completely natural fermentation process, the first drops of fish sauce are produced, exhibiting a reddish-brown or straw-yellow color and a unique, mild aroma.

The Ông Ba Ớt fish sauce production facility makes maximum use of fresh, high-quality natural ingredients and readily available local labor, creating stable jobs, increasing income for people in the countryside, and serving as a foundation for preserving and developing the Đức Lợi fish sauce craft village.

“To promote and affirm the value of products from the Duc Loi fish sauce village, I decided to register for the local OCOP product program. With continuous efforts, the product has now achieved OCOP 3-star rating and I believe that it will be increasingly chosen by consumers inside and outside the province,” said Ms. Van.

Continue to strongly develop the OCOP program.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mo Duc District, the district currently has 33 products that have achieved OCOP 3-4 star ratings. Of these, 3 products have achieved 4 stars and 30 products have achieved 3 stars.

Regarding the entities, there are currently 18 entities with OCOP-certified products, including: 2 enterprises (5 products), 1 cooperative (8 products), and 15 production facilities/household businesses (20 products).

Currently, 12 out of 13 localities in the district have products that meet OCOP standards, including: Duc Lan commune (3 products), Duc Phong (3 products), Mo Duc town (1 product), Duc Hoa (1 product), Duc Thanh (1 product), Duc Tan (2 products), Duc Chanh (5 products), Duc Hiep (2 products), Duc Nhuan (10 products), Duc Loi (2 products), Duc Minh (2 products), and Duc Thang (1 product).

The entire district has established three points for introducing and selling OCOP products: the Mo Duc Youth Store, the sales point at the Minh Tan beach service center (Duc Minh commune), and the OCOP product display point at the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong Memorial Area.

The district has also organized for businesses with OCOP products to participate in trade promotion at fairs and exhibitions to introduce and promote their products, build trademarks and brands, expand consumer markets, and contribute to bringing the district's OCOP products to consumers both domestically and internationally.

In 2024, Mo Duc district will continue to promote the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, striving to develop an additional 8-10 products to be recognized.

Vice Chairman of Mo Duc District People's Committee Ngo Van Thanh requested that departments and localities strengthen propaganda, support, and encouragement for businesses to develop products and complete the procedures for OCOP product recognition.

Businesses need to focus on improving quality and reputation, innovating designs and labels, expanding production scale, ensuring environmental hygiene, and preventing fires and explosions. They should strengthen linkages to support each other in production, business, promotion, and market research for mutual development. They should also intensify promotional activities and strive to get more products sold in supermarket chains.

The OCOP program has brought about positive changes, contributing to the economic development of rural areas and the implementation of the new rural development program in Mo Duc district. In 2023 alone, Mo Duc district reduced the number of poor and near-poor households by 2,854, including a reduction of 566 poor households; the poverty rate is now 3.66%.
