On November 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to organize a workshop on "Orientation for research, education , and ensuring and protecting human rights in the new era of the Vietnamese nation".
Attending the workshop were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
The workshop was also attended by leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, leaders of central agencies, Ho Chi Minh City and 350 delegates who are experts and scientists.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang said that since the time of national liberation, human rights have been one of the good contents that President Ho Chi Minh paid attention to. With the viewpoint of ensuring human rights as the driving force of development, all policies of the Party and laws of the State pay attention to protecting human rights.

For Ho Chi Minh City, we always focus on investing in the education, health and social security systems to ensure the rights of the people. Practical opinions from the workshop will be listened to, contributing to building a modern, civilized and dynamic city that integrates internationally, contributing to the development of the country.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City National Academy of Politics - said that in the renovation process, the issue of promoting the human factor, taking people as the center, respecting, ensuring and protecting human rights continues to be affirmed with a core position, as a principle, the ultimate goal and a strong endogenous driving force.
The workshop focused on clarifying three groups of strategic issues to create new directions for research, education and implementation of human rights: theoretical research on human rights, human rights education, and ensuring and protecting human rights in practice.
According to Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, ensuring, protecting and promoting human rights is the noble mission of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
It is necessary to continue perfecting institutions and laws, including accelerating the concretization of rights recognized in the 2013 Constitution into highly effective, accessible, and easy-to-enforce legal mechanisms; and enhancing accountability, transparency, and integrity of the state apparatus.
Determined to "completely eliminate the mindset of banning if you can't manage it, and managing if you don't know" , remove institutional bottlenecks to free up all resources, in the spirit of Resolution 66 of the Politburo on innovating the work of building and enforcing laws to meet the requirements of national development in the new era.

Strengthening the mechanism to ensure human rights in a socialist-oriented market economy, especially firmly protecting property rights, freedom of business, employment, social security and sustainable development.
Promote the role of the State in creating development, protecting vulnerable groups, and building a “digital social contract”, in the spirit of Resolution No. 68 on the private economy. Strengthen the protection of the rights of vulnerable groups such as women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and migrants.
Implement through affirmative action policies and substantive support measures to ensure equal development opportunities...
Participating in the workshop, experts and scientists raised many practical and theoretical issues in ensuring human rights in Vietnam. Typically, Vietnam has made many efforts and achievements in improving the quality of education, universalizing preschool and primary education and moving towards universalizing general education.
Recently, a series of border schools were started, ensuring the right to access education for children in the border areas... Delegates also raised suggestions on perfecting the law on current "hot issues" to ensure human rights such as protecting personal data, protecting human rights during investigation and trial...
Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that ensuring human rights is ensuring the rights of the people. In Ho Chi Minh City, many solutions have been implemented to take care of the people such as the city exempting tuition fees for students with a budget of about 600 billion VND per year.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council decided to support health insurance for people over 65 years old and health insurance for students with a budget of about 2,000 billion VND per year...
