On the morning of March 27, Comrade Nguyen Van Thi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi received a working delegation of CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company led by Ms. Esra Bora, General Director.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi presented flowers to congratulate Ms. Esra Bora, Director of CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company, when she visited Thanh Hoa province.
Also attending the reception were representatives of departments, branches, Nghi Son Economic Zone Management Board (KKTNS) and provincial Industrial Parks (IPs), and the Provincial People's Committee Office.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi congratulated Ms. Esra Bora on her new appointment as the company's director; and sincerely thanked Ms. Esra Bora in particular and the company for their support over the past time; especially since January 2023, CMA-CGM has reopened the international container shipping route via Nghi Son Port after a period of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic with 51 ships.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi gave an overview of Thanh Hoa province, Nghi Son Port as well as stimulus policies to attract maritime transport activities.
“The opening of the route and the regular maintenance of containerized cargo transportation through Nghi Son Port have created a turning point and favorable conditions for the import and export of containerized cargo by enterprises in the province and neighboring provinces; created more jobs for workers and increased budget revenue for the province,” emphasized Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi.
Representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Thanh Hoa province attended the reception.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also shared with CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company in particular and CMA-CGM Group in general about the difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the current geopolitical instability in the world that is directly affecting the shipping route and causing costs... However, in this context, CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company still maintains regular shipping routes, which demonstrates the efforts and special attention of the unit in supporting and accompanying the development of Nghi Son Port and Thanh Hoa province.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Thanh Hoa province pays special attention to maritime transport services. As evidence of this, Thanh Hoa has become the first province in the country to issue a policy to encourage shipping lines to open shipping routes and support enterprises to import and export goods through Nghi Son Port. In particular, in Resolution No. 248/2022/NQ-HDND on policies to support international and domestic maritime transport vehicles and support enterprises to transport goods by container through Nghi Son Port dated July 13, 2022, the Provincial People's Council has increased the level of support and diversified beneficiaries to stimulate demand and attract import and export activities through the port.
Ms. Esra Bora expressed her impression of the development of Nghi Son Port as well as Thanh Hoa province in general. She emphasized: “For CMA-CGM Group in general and CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company in particular, the development of Thanh Hoa is not only potential but also strategic. We will continue to focus more on solutions and hope to receive support, attention and companionship from the locality to maintain and better develop cargo transportation activities through Nghi Son Port”.
Ms. Esra Bora discussed the import and export structure of goods that the company is implementing.
The Director of CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company said that the current structure of export goods mainly consists of plastic beads and stones; meanwhile, Thanh Hoa province has a wide variety of potential export and import goods such as garments, leather shoes, seafood, steel, etc. Therefore, the company hopes that Thanh Hoa province as well as departments and branches will continue to coordinate and connect businesses to carry out diverse activities to balance export and import goods and improve operational efficiency.
Ms. Esra Bora and the delegation also discussed and learned more about industrial parks and clusters with existing and future industries; at the same time, they wanted to learn more about the planning of industrial industries; about the planning, situation, and development roadmap of Nghi Son Port and wanted to share and grasp both opportunities, difficulties, and challenges to coordinate and develop better.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi presented souvenirs to the working delegation.
Expressing his gratitude to the goodwill of CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi assigned the Management Board of the Economic Zone and the Industrial Zones to coordinate with the delegation to conduct a field survey and learn about the development plan of Nghi Son Port. At the same time, he said that Nghi Son Port has been planned to become Port 1A. Thanh Hoa Province is also focusing on mobilizing enterprises to continue investing in port infrastructure and specialized equipment, moving towards better meeting cargo handling activities in terms of both time and quality.
He hoped that with the attention and support of CMA-CGM Vietnam Joint Stock Company, activities through Nghi Son Port would become more and more vibrant, creating a spreading influence for the NSK to attract many large projects in the future.
