Both sides expressed their delight that the meeting took place on the occasion of Vietnam and the US celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio reviewed the progress in bilateral relations with remarkable progress in many areas over the past 30 years, the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is increasingly substantive and effective.

The two ministers also discussed measures to further deepen bilateral relations, including promoting visits and contacts at all levels, especially high-level; implementing high-level agreements and effectively implementing bilateral cooperation mechanisms. The two sides agreed to actively coordinate in organizing activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Economy continues to be an important driving force of bilateral relations. The two sides agreed to build balanced, stable, harmonious and sustainable economic, trade and investment cooperation, and resolve difficulties for the common interests of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son asked the US to support Vietnam in its efforts to promote innovation, digital transformation, develop high-tech supply chains, and train high-quality human resources; and highly appreciated the US's goodwill and coordination in supporting projects to overcome the consequences of war in Vietnam.
Secretary of State Rubio affirmed that he values the relationship with Vietnam, wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in many fields, coordinate to resolve remaining issues, continue to support Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of war, considering this a testament to trust and a symbol of the development of the relationship.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the US continue to play an active role in contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that the US supports ASEAN's central role and continues to promote cooperation within the framework of the ASEAN-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two sides also discussed the East Sea issue and agreed on the importance of peace, security, stability, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also met with Vice President of the European Commission (EC) and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in Vietnam-EU cooperation after 35 years of establishing diplomatic relations, creating a solid foundation for both sides to consider promoting and bringing the relationship to new heights.
In the context of many complicated developments in the world, the two sides need to continue to give high priority to strongly promoting cooperation, focusing on the fields of trade and investment.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked the EU to accelerate the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), promptly remove the yellow card on Vietnam's seafood exports, encourage European enterprises to invest in Vietnam's key projects on infrastructure, renewable energy, green transformation, digital transformation, environment, and speed up negotiations on the Vietnam-EFTA Free Trade Agreement.
Affirming that Vietnam is one of the EU's important partners in the region, the EC Vice President agreed that the two sides should increase exchanges, especially high-level delegation exchanges, promote bilateral cooperation, make the most of the EVFTA, open the market, and turn cooperation in science and technology, innovation, green transformation, and digital transformation into new pillars in bilateral relations in the coming time.
Discussing regional and international issues, the two sides affirmed the role and importance of the United Nations Charter and international law, and agreed that conflicts and disputes need to be resolved by peaceful means, through consultation and dialogue.

Sharing experiences in developing financial centers
At the meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lamy, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations; agreed to continue to coordinate to promote the exchange of high-level delegations, contributing to enhancing political trust and creating momentum to bring the good cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son shared with the British Foreign Secretary about the plan to develop regional and international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. This is a major policy of Vietnam to promote the transformation of the growth model and improve the competitiveness of the economy.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked the UK to share knowledge and experience in developing financial centers, support Vietnam in training and attracting human resources, and encourage UK organizations and businesses to participate in developing financial centers in Vietnam.
The British Foreign Secretary assessed that the relationship between the two countries has developed impressively in many areas, especially in trade and investment. He said that the two sides have many opportunities to promote trade and strengthen cooperation in new areas such as clean energy, renewable energy, etc.
The British Foreign Secretary expressed his interest and affirmed his support for British businesses and experts to participate in projects to build and develop Vietnam's financial center, thereby contributing to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
