Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz

On September 16th, on the occasion of attending the G77 Summit and China in Havana, Cuba (September 15-17), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the Vietnamese delegation met with Comrade Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha congratulated Cuba on the success of the G77 Summit with China, stating that science, technology, and innovation are key to solving current global problems; and thanked Cuba for the warm and cordial welcome extended to the Vietnamese delegation.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the Party, State, Government , National Assembly, and people of Vietnam will never forget the sincere assistance of Cuba during Vietnam's national liberation struggle. They always value, preserve, and are determined to further deepen the traditional relationship of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, stand side-by-side in supporting the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people, and will continue to strive together with Cuba to overcome current difficulties.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Cuban people, being extremely loyal, resilient, courageous, hardworking, and intelligent, will certainly overcome the current difficulties to successfully carry out their revolutionary cause.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha stated that, in the coming time, both sides need to continue to cooperate closely to create favorable conditions for businesses to strengthen trade and investment relations, so that economic relations are commensurate with the good political relations between the two countries, in accordance with the directives and wishes of the high-level leaders of both nations.

Comrade Manuel Marrero Cruz thanked the Party and State of Vietnam for sending a delegation to attend the G77 Summit and China, and highly appreciated the speech of the Vietnamese delegation.

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz stated that Cuba has many friends around the world, but always considers Vietnam as a close brother; he highly appreciated and thanked Vietnam for its assistance, especially the provision of rice to Cuba through both aid and trade contracts, particularly in the context of Cuba facing many difficulties due to the intensified US embargo measures in recent times.

He assessed that Cuba-Vietnam relations are developing very well, as evidenced by the visit to Cuba in April 2023 by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the visit to Vietnam at the end of this month by the Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated areas of South Vietnam in Quang Tri province (1973-2023).

Agreeing to direct ministries and agencies to coordinate more closely with Vietnam to promote investment and trade relations between the two countries, especially in fields such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and infrastructure construction, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz stated that both sides are now ready to move to a new phase of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Also on September 16th, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana and visited the Vimariel industrial park, invested in by Viglacera Group, to learn about and discuss measures to further improve the efficiency of Vietnamese businesses in Cuba.
