"Vietnam has demonstrated its role and strong commitment to the international community in sharing and strengthening global cooperation to combat cybercrime," Vice President Artigas shared in an interview with a Vietnam News Agency reporter on October 26, on the sidelines of the Signing Ceremony and Summit of the Convention.

Ms. Artigas expressed her admiration for Vietnam being chosen as the host country for the Convention signing ceremony, noting that this demonstrates Vietnam's leadership role and positive contribution to the global fight against cybercrime.

According to the Vice President of Ecuador, the Convention is a historic step in protecting women and children. In the context of the digital boom, women and children are among the most vulnerable groups to various forms of cybercrime. One of the biggest challenges today in protecting these groups in cyberspace is that technology is developing faster than cybersecurity systems. “That is the biggest challenge, therefore we need to share among countries what we are doing to protect women and children. When we share experiences and act together, that is how we can truly protect women and children around the world,” Ms. Artigas emphasized.

“The Convention is a historic step, not only for Ecuador but for the whole world; it strengthens our commitment, especially to children in the digital world. For children today, the digital space is where they learn, share and experience so much in life,” Vice President Artigas emphasized.

Vice President Artigas stated that, to date, Ecuador is one of nearly 70 countries and organizations that have signed the Hanoi Convention on responding to the challenges of cybercrime, which requires global efforts.

According to Ms. Artigas, following the signing of this Convention, the most important thing is for member states to demonstrate a strong commitment to its implementation. She urged countries to accelerate the process of harmonizing their laws to conform with the Convention and to enhance technical capacity, while promoting solidarity and cooperation not only among governments but also with the entire society and civil society organizations.

Expressing confidence in the potential for cooperation between Ecuador and Vietnam in the field of cybersecurity, Vice President Artigas emphasized that the two countries have many common points for exchange and Ecuador is always ready to cooperate with Vietnam in this area. At the same time, the two countries will share a common commitment to efforts to prevent and combat cybercrime, such as sharing experiences and technical capabilities, as well as implementation methods to increase the effectiveness of cooperation.
