Admission methods and quotas for University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi 2024

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University , Hanoi, is recruiting candidates with a minimum IELTS score of 5.5, similar to last year, but with slightly reduced requirements regarding high school graduation exam scores.

In 2024, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will recruit 640 students, an increase of 40 compared to last year, for the following majors: Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, and Nursing.

The university uses five admission methods, including: based on high school graduation exam scores (35%), based on the aptitude test scores of Hanoi National University (35%), and based on international English certificates (6%). In addition, the university offers direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the specific mechanisms of Hanoi National University.

For international English proficiency assessment, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 for Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry programs, and 5.5 for other programs.

At the same time, candidates need to have high school graduation exam scores that meet the minimum threshold set by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University. The total score of the two subjects in the combination (Mathematics is mandatory) must be at least 16 for Medical, Pharmacy, and Dentistry majors and 14 for other majors. This is 1 point lower than last year.

When considering applications based on English language certificates, the school further divides them into two groups with different evaluation methods.

For the group with IELTS scores of 8.0 or higher, the school will consider candidates based on their IELTS scores from highest to lowest until all slots are filled. In the event that multiple candidates at the bottom of the list have the same IELTS score, the school will then consider the total score of the two graduation subjects.

For groups with IELTS scores below 8.0, the admission score is calculated by adding the converted IELTS score to the scores of the two subjects in the combination (Mathematics is mandatory).

For other admission methods, the requirements are similar to last year. For example, with the aptitude test score, the school requires a minimum of 100/150 for Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry, and 80 for other majors. Candidates need to meet the minimum threshold set by the Ministry, and also achieve 8 points in Chemistry on the high school graduation exam if choosing Pharmacy, 8 points in Biology for Medicine and Dentistry, and 7 points in Biology for other majors.

The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has lowered its IELTS requirements for admission.

Tuition fees at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy this year are divided into three levels. The highest tuition fee is for the Medical program at 55 million VND per year, followed by Pharmacy at 51 million VND, and the remaining programs at 27.6 million VND. This is the same as last year.

Last year, the entrance exam scores for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, based on high school graduation exam scores, ranged from 23.55 to 26.8, with the highest score being for the Dentistry major.
