On September 20, 1977, Vietnam officially joined the United Nations. Over the past 47 years, the Vietnam-UN cooperation has contributed to maintaining and strengthening a peaceful , secure, and favorable environment for national development; promoting deeper international integration; and enhancing Vietnam's position and image on the international stage.
