On November 13th, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee announced that Chairman Le Van Dung had sent a letter to the Ministry of National Defense regarding the review, demarcation, and handover of civilian land for the implementation of the socialized investment and exploitation project for Chu Lai Airport.
Specifically, to implement Notice No. 135 (2022) of the Government Office on the conclusions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the leaders of Quang Nam province, including the project on socializing investment and operation of Chu Lai Airport, the Provincial People's Committee reports to the Ministry of National Defense to pay attention to resolving the following issues:
Chu Lai Airport, covering an area of approximately 2,148 hectares, is currently managed and used by the Ministry of National Defence. Of this, the area west of the main access road to Chu Lai Airport, approximately 1,281 hectares, includes existing facilities built by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and technical infrastructure managed by the military.
The area east of the main access road to Chu Lai Airport covers approximately 868 hectares and is currently vacant land with no infrastructure built on it.
According to the plan, the eastern area will receive investment for the development of a new, integrated system of runways, taxiways, aprons, passenger terminals, and cargo terminals, ensuring it meets the operational standards of an independent airport.
Therefore, in order to implement the project of socializing investment and operation of Chu Lai Airport, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province requests the Ministry of National Defense to take the lead and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies and the province to measure and clearly delineate the area of civil aviation land, military land, and shared military land (for both civil and military use).
In addition, procedures and documentation will be established to transfer the area of land designated for civil aviation to Quang Nam province for management.
Initially, the area east of the main access road to Chu Lai Airport (approximately 868 hectares) will be handed over to the province to expedite the implementation of relevant documents and procedures for the socialization of investment and operation of Chu Lai Airport, as directed by the Prime Minister.
