Accordingly, on July 30, a number of press agencies reported that the Ngoc Hoi Solid Waste Treatment Complex in Bo Y Commune, Quang Ngai Province, after many delays, was put into operation in April 2025 and had a "perforated" garbage cell incident, causing a large amount of water and waste to flow down, silting up fish ponds and crops of households and affecting the surrounding environment.
The water and waste that were washed away have silted up the operation building, two wastewater treatment ponds, belonging to the Ngoc Hoi Solid Waste Treatment Complex, and many fish ponds and crops of the surrounding people have been silted up with soil and waste.

Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant units to urgently verify the above-mentioned information according to regulations. At the same time, report and propose the Provincial People's Committee to direct the handling of incidents and violations (if any) during the project implementation process, ensuring the operation of the project, avoiding environmental impacts, and completing before August 8.
Previously, SGGP Online reported that “The waste treatment area had broken pipes as soon as it started operating, causing water and waste to spill out”. In less than 4 months of operation, the Ngoc Hoi Solid Waste Treatment Complex had an incident that caused water and waste to spill out, affecting people's farming.
