(Dan Tri) - The Quang Ninh tourism industry expressed deep condolences over the disaster of the tourist boat capsizing in Ha Long Bay, and called on the community and tourists to continue to share and support each other to overcome difficulties.

After the disaster of a tourist boat capsizing in Ha Long Bay that killed 39 people, the tourism industry of Quang Ninh province expressed its deep condolences and called on the community, businesses and tourists to continue to work together to overcome difficulties, affirming that Ha Long is still a safe and attractive destination.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said that the capsized tourist ship Bay Xanh 58 was a "particularly rare incident that has never happened in the past decades."

The cause of casualties among tourists was due to erratic weather factors (unrelated to the developments and impacts of storm number 3 - storm Wipha).

Immediately after the incident, the Government, ministries, branches and Quang Ninh province urgently mobilized rescue forces, searched for victims, and cared for the affected families. Currently, 39 bodies of victims have been handed over to their families. 10 survivors have been rescued and are in stable health.

Recently, the locality has focused resources on developing a tourist fleet according to national standards, promulgating regulations on management, operation and supervision of inland waterway vehicles in general and tourist boats in Ha Long Bay in particular according to weather warning levels.

After the incident, the unit focused on reviewing and perfecting the forecasting, warning and rescue procedures. Quang Ninh tourism industry hopes that domestic and international tourists will continue to trust and support Ha Long Bay, a world heritage and wonder. Up to now, tourism activities in Ha Long Bay have been operating normally.

Previously, the Quang Ninh Tourism Association also sent an open letter to tourists about the tragic accident in Ha Long Bay. This unit also committed to safety criteria when operating tourist boats.

Specifically, 100% of the cruise ships in Ha Long Bay have safety standards higher than national standards. The stable safety coefficient exceeds national standards by 2-3 times.

The unit considered the incident an opportunity for the tourism industry of Quang Ninh province to objectively, thoroughly, and comprehensively review issues related to operating procedures, incident response skills, and strengthen inspection of vehicle safety and service quality.

Along with that, the Association affirmed its determination to preserve and develop the Ha Long - Quang Ninh tourism brand, building the image of a safe, friendly and attractive destination in the eyes of international friends.

"Ha Long cruise ships and cruise ships deserve the trust and companionship of tourists," the unit affirmed.

According to the tourism industry report of Quang Ninh province, in the first 6 months of the year, the whole province welcomed over 12 million visitors, a sharp increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, the number of international visitors reached nearly 2 million, an increase of 18%.

The figures show positive signs of recovery in the foreign tourist market after a long period of disruption due to the pandemic and geopolitical fluctuations.

Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at VND 29,140 billion, an increase of 31% over the same period in 2024. This impressive growth comes from the increase in high-end experience tours, island resort tourism, and especially the return of international visitors from Korea, China, Europe...

This year, Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 20 million visitors and total tourism revenue exceeds 50,000 billion VND.
