The National Assembly approved Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

On October 25, at the 10th Session, the 15th National Assembly approved the appointment of Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra (born January 21, 1964), from Nghe An province, has a Master's degree in Educational Management, Bachelor's degree in Literature. She is a member of the Party Central Committee, terms XII and XIII, and a delegate of the National Assembly, term XV.

She started her career in September 1985 as a teacher at Co Phuc Town Primary School, Tran Yen District, Yen Bai Province. In September 1987, she became a professional instructor at the Department of Education and Training of Tran Yen District; in September 1997, she held the position of Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tran Yen District.

In December 1999, she was appointed Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Tran Yen district. She then held the following positions: Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union (November 2000), Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Youth Union (February 2002), Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department (January 2006), Vice Chairwoman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee (April 2008) and Secretary of the Yen Bai City Party Committee (April 2011).

From May 2014, she held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province; in October 2016, she was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province. Then, she became Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council (February 2017).

In October 2020, she was transferred and assigned to be Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. In April 2021, she was appointed Minister of Home Affairs.

At the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly (October 2025), the National Assembly approved Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.
